Jaime Munguia Career Breakdown
Jaime Munguia has a career fight record of 43-1.
Of his 43 wins, 34 have come by KO, with nine by decision. His only defeat came on points, and it was a unanimous decision loss against Canelo Alvarez in May.
In the defeat to Canelo, Munguia did his reputation no harm. The 27-year-old Mexican survived being dropped for the first time in his career in the defeat.
He was floored in the 4th but fought gamely until the end. Ultimately, he lost heavily on the scorecards. But he isnât the first to suffer that fate against Alvarez.
Before the loss to Canelo, Munguia stopped the experienced John Ryder in the 9th round. That win was in January of this year, just a few months after Ryder had taken Canelo the distance.
The win over the Brit was impressive and was probably what clinched Munguia his shot at Canelo.
As you can probably tell by his record, Munguia likes to finish fights early. Four of his five most recent contests have finished inside the distance. Only Sergiy Derevyanchenko has taken him to the final bell in those five contests.
Erik Bazinyan Career Breakdown
Erik Bazinyan has a career fight record of 32-0-1.
In his 32 career victories, 23 have come by KO, with nine by decision. The only fight he didnât win was his last contest against Shakeel Phinn, which the judges scored as a controversial draw.
The result didnât do Bazinyanâs reputation any good, as the majority watching thought the 29-year-old was well beaten by Phinn.
Bazinyanâs two fights before that both ended early. In January 2024, he defeated Billi Facundo by TKO in the 3rd. And in October 2023, he defeated Ronald Ellis by KO in the 6th.
Jaime Munguia vs. Erik Bazinyan Betting Picks and Predictions
The first thing that sticks out ahead of this fight is the resumes of both boxers. Munguia has clearly fought a far higher level of opponent than Erik Bazinyan.
Elsewhere, both fighters are in their prime years, and the records of both men show they can land knockout blows.
Jaime Munguia walked away from the Canelo fight with his reputation intact. Erik Bazinyan walked away from the Shakeel Phinn fight with his reputation damaged. Everyone knows who had the tougher fight.
Furthermore, this will be the first time in his career that Erik Bazinyan is scheduled to go 12 rounds. And what an opponent to be stepping it up against.
Bazinyan has got the proverbial puncher's chance. But when it comes to form and class, our betting pick to win has to be Jaime Munguia.
For value, back Munguia to win in the second half of the fight at +105.
