2023 WNBA All Star Game

Need betting advice for the 2022 WNBA All-Star game? You’ll want to continue reading then. We’re previewing the star-studded matchup on Sunday, July 10, plus offering a pick on which team wins straight up.

Top-rated WNBA betting sites have yet to post betting lines for the 2022 All-Star game, unfortunately. But that won’t remain the case. The All-Star break doesn’t officially begin until Thursday night when the last regular-season game is played before festivities begin. Once that happens, expect game odds to be available. Nonetheless, we have enough information on the game ahead to predict what will happen. More on that shortly.

Previewing 2022 WNBA All-Star Game

The league made a major change to the game in 2022, which is where we’ll begin our preview of the 2022 WNBA All-Star matchup. The usual format of Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference is gone. It’s being replaced by team captains and their “draft” picks. WNBA has done this before and it’s also how NBA organizes its All-Star game so any basketball fan should be aware of how it works.

The two team captains are Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson. Captain status was given to both because they racked up the highest amount of All-Star fan votes. From there, each player was allowed to draft their own roster of All-Stars, conference standing be damned.

Wilson had the first overall choice. With it, she grabbed Chicago's Candace Parker. Here's the rest of the Team Wilson roster once trades were completed:

  • A'ja Wilson
  • Sylvia Fowles
  • Candace Parker
  • Kelsey Plum
  • Sabrina Ionescu
  • Rhyne Howard
  • Dearica Hamby
  • Courtney Vandersloot
  • Ariel Atkins
  • Brionna Jones
  • Natasha Howard

Jackie Young was the second overall choice by Team Stewart, who filled out her roster with the following players:

  • Breanna Stewart
  • Sue Bird
  • Jackie Young
  • Jonquel Jones
  • Jewell Lloyd
  • Nneka Ogwumike
  • Kahleah Copper
  • Skylar Diggins-Smith
  • Alyssa Thomas
  • Arike Ogunbowale
  • Emma Meesseman

Technically, there will be “coaches” for each side too. We put coaches in quotation marks because, well, it’s an All-Star game and X’s and O’s are rare in these exhibitions. Still, it’s worth mentioning. Team Wilson will be coached by Becky Hammon, who has guided the Las Vegas Aces to the highest wins in the league this season. James Wade, coach of the reigning champion Chicago Sky, will be at the helm of Team Stewart.

It should also be noted that Wade is coaching at home. That’s because the Wintrust Arena in Chicago will play hosts this All-Star weekend, a first for the city. Other Sky talent participating includes the aforementioned Parker and her teammates, Copper, and Vandersloot.

Betting Pick To Win 2022 WNBA All-Star Game

As a general sports betting strategy, you shouldn't stake massive amounts of money on this All-Star game — or any other for that matter. Exhibition games are, more times than not, complete crapshoots with players picking and choosing when to "try" hard. Nonetheless, that's not going to stop us from making a betting pick to win the 2022 WNBA All-Star game at a modest amount.

We feel a strong pull to wager on Team Stewart. Why? Because it'll be co-captained by Sue Bird, who will retire at season's end. She is one of the biggest stars in WNBA history and we sense Bird and her teammates will want to send her out with a swan song.

Admittedly, Bird isn't the lone co-captain that'll soon be on the retired list. Sylvia Fowles holds the same distinction for Team Wilson. But the difference between the two is Stewart, who is a teammate of Bird on the Seattle Storm. Those two players possess natural chemistry on the floor — something that Fowles and Wilson (or another player on that roster) can't just pick up overnight. Bet on Bird to go out on top and take Team Stewart with her.

How To Watch & Bet The 2022 WNBA All-Star Game

Now that you have a betting pick for the game, you’re just missing two pieces of information — how to watch and how to bet. When it comes to the former, the WNBA All-Star game can be exclusively watched on ABC for those inside the United States. The network will live-air the game at 1 pm EST come July 10. If you’ve “cut the cord” then there are also streaming packages that carry ABC, and therefore, the WNBA. There are too many streamers to name but popular options include Sling TV, fuboTV, or Hulu + Live TV.

Betting-wise, you should begin with the list of bookmakers listed below. In their own way, these betting sites are also "All Stars" in the industry. Not only will you be able to find WNBA All-Star odds here (once they're posted), but lines for the rest of the WNBA season too. Every single WNBA regular season and postseason matchup are available for wagering at these bookmakers.

With the season months away from ending, that's a whole lot of betting opportunities in the WNBA alone. If you need spare cash to make bets with, consider cashing in a betting bonus. Each site offers one of some sort, but the best ones are listed in the underneath table. As you can see, deals can reach as much as $2500 in free play at some sites.
