The 2023 Lacrosse All-Star weekend takes place in Louisville this Saturday, with a Skills Challenge kicking off the action, followed by the All-Star game on Saturday night. In our latest Lacrosse betting picks we look ahead to the game, and tell you who will think will be the victorious team.
- What; 2023 Premier Lacrosse League All-Star Game
- Who; Rising Stars vs Veterans
- Where; Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium, Louisville, Kentucky
- When; Saturday, July 22nd, 2023
- Time; 7.30 pm ET
This year the format has changed. Instead of having two teams from the draft of 50 top players selected by fans, we will have a match between the Premier Lacrosse League Rising Stars and Veterans.
The selection process was still made up of fan votes, but the criteria for selecting the team have now changed. As co-founder and president of the PLL, Paul Rabil stated, this match will answer an age-old question, what is more important, youth or experience?
And this not only applies to Lacrosse but sport in general.
To qualify for the Rising Starās roster, players had to be playing for less than four seasons. And to qualify for the Veteransā roster, the criteria is to have been playing for four or more years as a professional.
This gives us an early heads-up that the Veterans might not be as long in the tooth as they originally sounded.
2023 Premier Lacrosse League Futures
But as well as being the All-Star weekend, itās also a mid-season break from the 2023 Premier Lacrosse League season. So with this in mind, letās look at the futures betting market ahead of the second half of the season.
After five rounds of matches, itās Archers who top the PLL standings with four wins and one defeat. Archers started the season at +550, and after their excellent run of results, are now the +450 favorites to win the 2023 PLL Championship.
Archers started the season with two wins from two but got derailed in Week 3 when they lost 15-10 at home to Chaos. How they bounced back was crucial. And they bounced back in style, winning 15-12 away to Whipsnakes in Week 4.

That could have been a defining win, as Whipsnakes started the season as the favorites with the best online betting sites.
The Whipsnakes are having a bit of a season to forget. They currently sit sixth in the table with a 1-4 record. In the betting to win the Championship, they are +600. But don't let that take anything away from Archers' win over the pre-season betting favorites.
The current odds of +600 on Whipsnakes are reflective of the whole market, which is very close. The favorites are Archers at +450, with Chrome the eighth and final team in the futures market at +750.
At the start of the season, Archers was one of our picks to win the PLL Championship, and we see no reason to change our minds at the halfway point.
Betting to win the 2023 Premier Lacrosse League All-Star Game
The best online betting sites have this down as a close-run fixture. The Veterans go into the match as the favorites at -125, with the Rising Stars at +100.

As we alluded to in the intro, players with four or more seasons of experience arenāt necessarily veterans. They could be regarded more as being in their prime. An excellent example of that theory is Tom Schreiber of Archers. Yes, heās 31. But not what you would describe as over the hill. And as his Archers team has tweeted, an All-Star game wouldnāt be an All-Star game without him.

The Veterans are being coached by Andy Towers of Chaos and Tim Soudan of Chrome. The Rising Stars coaches are Andy Copeland of Waterdogs and Nathaniel St. Laurent of Redwoods. All four will bring invaluable experience to the fixture, even Copeland and St. Laurent of the Rising Stars.
Our Betting Pick to win the 2023 Lacrosse All-Star Game
But the stand-out talent will be on the pitch with the likes of Marcus Holman, Tom Schreiber, Blaze Riorden, and Ryder Garnsey lining up for the Veterans against guys like Ryan Terefenko, Colin Squires, Michael Sowers, and JT Giles-Harris for the Rising Stars.
But despite the difference in experience, it does look like a close call with the talent on show on both sides. And this is further backed up by the odds, where there is no overwhelming favorite to win the match.
We feel that the extra know-how on the Veterans team could be the difference. There doesn't seem to be a lot between the two teams talent-wise, so weāre going with the extra experience and making the Veterans team our pick to win the 2023 Premier Lacrosse League All-Star game.
