Sodiq Yusuff vs. Edson Barboza Prop Betting Pick
We got ourselves a solid main event with this featherweight fight. Yuseff is the straight-up betting favorite, but it’s a close one. To us, the best Yuseff vs. Barboza prop bet to take is the exact outcome — so choose who wins and how. Here’s the list of options available at UFC’s best betting sites:
Outcome | |||
---|---|---|---|
Barboza by Decision | +750 | +750 | +750 |
Barboza by KO | +210 | +210 | +210 |
Barboza by Submission | +2000 | +2000 | +2000 |
Yusuff by Decision | +260 | +260 | +260 |
Yusuff by KO | +220 | +220 | +220 |
Yusuff by Submission | +450 | +450 | +450 |
Draw | +6600 | +6600 | +6600 |
This should be a close matchup, whether it’s fought on the feet or on the ground. Both fighters have the ability to do both. Standing up though, you’d have to favor Yuseff. He lands 5.29 strikes per minute to Barboza’s 4. Almost half (6) of Yuseff’s career wins (13) have been by knockout too.
But at the same time, Yuseff hasn’t had the stiffest completion. The best person he’s fought, Arnold Allen, handed him a loss. Barboza is a step up in competition for sure. Here you have a grizzled veteran at the sport who’s fought some of the best UFC has to offer — Tony Ferguson (loss), Beneil Dariush (win), Khabib Nurmagomedov (loss), and Justin Gaethje (loss). It’s this type of experience Barboza has a chance to lean on to beat Yuseff IQ-wise.
Barboza is 37 years old and we sense that’s going to be this fight’s difference-maker. He’s come away from his takedown ability as he’s aged and in a striking contest with a 30-year-old Yuseff, we sense Barboza gets dropped and finished. We’d bet on Yuseff to win by KO here.
Jennifer Maia vs. Viviane Araujo Betting Pick
This contest features a pair of featherweights slowly aging out of the division, but still hanging around the top-10 rankings. The moneyline is close here too, but we’re personally throwing money on the Maia vs. Araujo round betting prop. This one tasks bettors with picking the winner and in what round exactly. The betting options are as follows:
Outcome | |||
---|---|---|---|
Araujo in Round 1 | +1000 | +1000 | +1000 |
Araujo in Round 2 | +1400 | +1400 | +1400 |
Araujo in Round 3 | +2200 | +2200 | +2200 |
Araujo by Points | +220 | +220 | +220 |
Maia in Round 1 | +1200 | +1200 | +1200 |
Maia in Round 2 | +1600 | +1600 | +1600 |
Maia in Round 3 | +2500 | +2500 | +2500 |
Maia by Points | -105 | -105 | -105 |
Draw | +8000 | +8000 | +8000 |
Araujo is the betting underdog. She’s 36 years of age and ranks No. 11 in the featherweight rankings. The favorite, Maia, is 35 and ranks No. 9. So that immediately explains the betting odds on the moneyline.
We would have to agree with that assessment too because this is Maia’s fight to lose. Araujo appears to be in bigger decline as she’s lost two fights in a row. Maybe you could excuse the first loss to Alexa Grasso, who became champion afterward. But Araujo was also pieced up recently by Amanda Ribas. Both were unanimous decision results where Araujo looked uncompetitive.
We’re expecting another stand-up fight in this one as both prefer standing up and swinging. Maia is the better strike of the two so she should win it. We won’t see a stoppage though. Araujo has only been finished one time in her career (out of five losses). She’s tough so the bet to make here is Maia by decision.
Jonathan Martinez vs. Adrian Yanez Betting Pick
This one might be a Fight of the Night contender cause both these guys can end fights at a moment’s notice. If so, that makes the go-the-distance prop between Martinez and Yanez worth a look. Here’s how the odds shake out both ways:
We also like this prop bet because honestly, we have zero clue who’s winning. Yanez is the better striker of the two. What makes him particularly dangerous is the speed of his strikes — they can truly fly. It’s how Yanez is averaging a whopping 6.75 strikes per minute. Ten out of his 16 career wins has come via knockout.
Martinez is also dangerous but in more ways than one. He can strike but maybe not at the level of Yanez. Martinez can fall back on pretty solid Brazilian jiu-jitsu though so there are multiple paths to victory for him.
We’re putting money on the no, this will not go to decision. Someone’s getting stopped — we just don’t know who. Rather than guess, we’ll just take the no wager here.
