UFC 248 Betting Breakdown

There will be an overwhelming push to side with Israel Adesanya here. We can't argue.

The middleweight champion is 12 years younger than Yoel Romero, 42, and plays excellent defense. It'll be difficult for his opponent to complete many takedowns. Adesanya is blocking more than 80 percent of takedown attempts.

Still, getting him at -280 is hardly an excellent value. He opened much better, around -220, but the odds shifted after a measure of the opening act. Don't be afraid to try and pick up Romero instead, when he's paying out more than two to one. He packs a ton of power and could feasibly end this fight early.

Weili Zhang (-150) vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk (+120)

Don't overthink this matchup between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Zhang is the pick, and it shouldn't be this close.

Indeed, the women's Strawweight Championship exchanged hands twice in 2019. It is a tough division to gain any title longevity in. We're not worried about it.

Zhang has been utterly dominant since losing her UFC debut, emerging as the victor in 20 straight head-to-heads. Few fighters in the Strawweight Division boast her combination of precision on both strikes and kicks. Jedrzejczyk is an aggressive fighter and will put some pressure on the defending champ, but this remains a matchup Zhang should handily win.

Beneil Dariush (-165) vs. Drakkar Klose (+135)

After losing three straights, including one to a knockout, Beneil Dariush has since settled off three straight victories. We expect that winning streak to continue at UFC 248.

Drakkar Klose knows how to mix up his attacking style, baking in a nice blend of strikes and kick combinations. He is also riding a three-fight winning streak.

In the end, though, Klose doesn't have enough versatility while playing defense. He won't beat Dariush in a grappling standoff, and Dariush will have a clear stamina edge if this fight goes long.
