The main event features two middleweights. One is a grizzled veteran, the other is the up-and-comer that turns heads. This is classic UFC matchmaking, that’s why it’s no surprise Pyfer (the newcomer) is the favorite to beat Hermansson with a -240 moneyline. Personally, we favor betting the over/under between Hermansson and Pyfer instead. Here’s the latest odds for it:

Pyfer lost his first UFC bout cause of an elbow injury, but has gone 4-0 in the promotion since. Here’s the thing, Pyfer isn’t just winning, he’s putting down his opponents. Three fights ended in KO and the last one was a submission. Pyfer is dangerous, especially with his hands that hit like stone. He has a lot of buzz so far with many believing he’ll be a championship contender within a year or so.

Getting Hermansson is a prove-it fight for Pyfer. Prove it because Hermansson has been a fixture in the middleweight division since 2016. He’s fought many of the class’ best including Kelvin Gastelum, Sean Strickland, and Marvin Vettori, among others. The thing that stands out about Hermansson is his grappling and ground game. He’s a technician at it.

Here’s what puts us off about Hermansson though: his ring IQ. That was highlighted in his previous fight against Roman Dolidze, a TKO loss for Hermansson. He took him to the ground but proceeded to do nothing before getting finished. 35-year-old fighters like Hermansson should be winning off an experienced gameplan, but that’s not really the case here.

Pyfer should win, and if he does, an early finish is most likely. Only one of his 12 career wins have been by decision. Whether it’s a KO or tap out, our feeling is Pyfer will get Hermansson out of there early. Therefore, bet the under.

Dan Ige vs. Andre Fili Betting Pick

We’re excited with the featherweight co-main event. Excited because it should be a competitive bout between two extremely balanced fighters. Let’s take a look at the current Ige-Fili odds, available at the best UFC betting sites:

As we said, both fighters can do it all in the octagon. Let’s start with the betting favorite, Ige, whose specialty is kickboxing. However, he can also fall back on wrestling and jiu-jitsu too. You can see just how well-rounded Ige is by his record. He’s 17-7 and in those wins, five were by KO, another five via submission, and seven decisions.

Then there’s Fili, who has similar qualities. We would say he’s a tad more dangerous in the striking department. Ten of his 23 wins have been via KO so he can crack if need be. Fili’s strikes landed per minute (3.86) is just slightly ahead of Ige (3.76). He also has the advantage in takedowns with Fili averaging 2.19 to Ige’s 1.07.

This is really a toss-up fight. Honestly, it should be closer to pick ‘em than the current odds. This why we’re leaning toward Fili ever slightly. We sense there’s value in his +140 line so we’re taking Fili here.

Robert Bryczek vs. Ihor Potieria Betting Pick

This is a last-minute fight as Bryczek was originally slotted to fight Albert Duraev. A visa issue caused the change and here we have Potieria filling in late. Despite that, Bryczek is only a small favorite over Potieria on the moneyline:

There’s some hype around the debut of Bryczek. He’s a trained boxer and can swing accordingly. Each of Bryczek’s last five fights ended in a first-round finish for him. Bryczek is 33 years old so he's not spring chicken but not old yet either. He’s spent his career with FEN, PLMMA, Spartan Fight, and accumulated a 17-5 mark with 11 KOs. Bryczek is another name to look out for in a wide-open middleweight division.

The short week of preparation not only puts Potieria at a significant disadvantage, but he also has to come down a weight class. That’s not a good combo, especially for a fighter like Potieria who doesn’t have the best cardio to begin with. We’re putting a sizable bet on Bryczek. Honestly, we’re surprised his betting like isn’t longer given the obvious disadvantages Potieria has.
