Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac Betting Pack
You just had to know that UFC would book Gane on this card, right? Of course, Gane is a French native and returns home for a homecoming of sorts. No one should be surprised that Gane is the comfortable betting favorite over Spivac. Still, it’s not a huge advantage. Here’s how the best online betting sites for UFC have the lines broken down:
Let’s be honest, Gane was absolutely embarrassed last time out versus Jon Jones. The two fought for the heavyweight title and Jones made Gane submit within two minutes. Yes, it’s Jones — arguably the UFC G.O.A.T. — but Gane did absolutely nothing. This marked the second time he’s been beaten soundly in a title match (the other was against Francis Ngannou).
Here’s the thing though, it’s not just that Gane lost to arguably the best heavyweights around. But it’s how Gane lost that worries us. Gane was outwrestled with ease by both fighters. Ngannou took him down four times and Jones twice. That presents a problem against Spivac, who is a grappler and ground-and-pounder.
Spivac has been with the UFC since 2019, racking up a 7-3 record in the division. During that stretch, he’s averaging an impressive five takedowns per fight. Gane, by comparison, has a 0.6 average. By that stat alone, you know this fight is a styles clash. Gane will want to stand up and swing, while Spivac will prefer to go on the ground.
We’re going to pick Spivac to win. Gane’s takedown defense is a measly 45 percent and we expect him to struggle against Spivac. If Spivac can avoid Gane’s head-hunting ways, he has a real chance to play spoiler and win this by decision. His plus-money odds are worth the risk.
Rose Namajunas vs. Manon Fiorot Betting Pick
The most well-known fighter on the card is Namajunas. She just lost the strawweight championship, but this marks her first fight at flyweight. Namajunas is matched against another French native in Fiorot. Here again, the oddsmakers have chosen Fiorot as the presumptive favorite over Namajunas. The odds are identical to the other bout we covered:
This is not a tune-up fight in the slightest for Namajunas. Honestly, Dana White threw her right into the dogs with this. That’s because Fiorot has a big size advantage. She’s two inches taller and Fiorot should be the much stronger fighter. Remember, Namajunas was undersized at flyweight so going up in weight won’t help her.
It doesn’t help that Fiorot is also an aggressive fighter. She lands 6.58 strikes per minute so expect Fiorot to bring the volume come fight time. Namajunas has never been a high-output fighter, and that’s what cost her the belt last time out. We could see this fight being lopsided in favor of Fiorot. An early finish wouldn’t even surprise us. You might want to load the truck on Fiorot to defend her home floor here.
Benoit Saint-Denis vs. Thiago Moises Betting Pick
Another fight, another French native favored to win. In this fight, that’s Saint-Denis. He’s opposed by Moises out of Brazil. Saint-Denis is -155 on the moneyline. However, we’re skipping it in favor of betting on the Saint-Denis and Moises over/under. Here’s how the oddsmakers have it set:
We predict that Saint-Denis will be the talk of the show when this card is all done with. That’s because we think this lightweight has star potential. He’s on a three-fight win streak and has flashed his elite potential. Wrestling is Saint-Denis' strong suit with eight takedowns in eight UFC rounds fought. Not only that, but Saint-Denis has excellent ground control and ground-and-pound.
Moises can’t wrestle with Saint-Denis and he can’t strike with him either. Saint-Denis has a better strikes landed per minute average than Moises and more lower in his fists. Fighting in front of the home crowd, we predict Saint-Denis earns the stoppage win. We really do think it happens, and if so, the under is extremely likely.
