The UFC keeps rolling on — whether it’s a numbered PPV or not. On Saturday, April 15, we get a Fight Night featuring a major main event, Max Holloway vs. Arnold Allen. For expert UFC Fight Night betting advice, not only on this bout but others, you’ll want to keep reading. We’re dropping predictions on the big card right here!
Moneyline: Holloway vs. Allen Pick
This featherweights match likely has serious title-fight implications. Holloway is ranked No. 2 in the division, while Allen is at No. 4. The rankings are close and so are the Holloway-Allen betting odds. As you can see underneath, the top betting sites for UFC favor Holloway, but just barely:
Most bettors are already familiar with Holloway. The man nicknamed “Blessed” has largely dominated whilst in the UFC, accumulating a 16-4 mark. His only losses are to current champion Alexander Volkanovski (three of ‘em) and Dustin Poirier. So he might get another shot at Volkanovski even with a win here, but Holloway could slow down the “new guard” from taking over.
Allen is that new guard, and perhaps more unfamiliar to casual bettors. Allen has never been beaten in the UFC (a perfect 10-0 now) but many of those wins have come on Fight Night cards that are watched less than PPVs.
What you need to know about Allen is he’s got superb striking skills. Allen has quick hands thanks to a boxing background. His past two wins have been by stoppage, including one over Dan Hooker. Of course, Holloway can also strike with the best of ‘em. Holloway owns multiple UFC striking records such as the most career-significant strikes (2,975) and the most landed in a single fight (445 vs Kattar two years ago).
This is honestly a toss-up fight. On one hand, Halloway looked as bad as we’ve ever seen him in the octagon last time out, getting a 50-45 loss to Volkanovski, who pieced him up with speedy strikes. Allen has some of the similar attributes, but at that same time, he’s no Volkanovski. Our money is going on Holloway. He’s been such a dominant featherweight over the years that we’re not ready to crown someone else. Plus, he’s only 31 years old so natural decline isn’t a major factor yet.
Over/Under 2.5 Rounds: Edson Barboza vs. Billy Quarantillo Pick
Featherweights will also duke it out in the semi-main event. The moneyline odds are also pretty close in this one, however, our money will instead be going on the Barboza-Quarantillo over/under. Here are the current odds both ways:
“Billy Q” is the betting favorite to win, and should be. He’s gone 5-2 in his UFC run and done so with some of the most entertaining fights. His last three wins have come by knockout, but he’s also never faced a fighter quite at the level of Barboza. The 37-year-old has been in the octagon with numerous greats — Tony Ferguson, Justin Gathje, and Khabib Nurmagomedov, just to name a few. However, he’s only 2-5 since 2019 and likely nearing retirement soon.
We’re pretty confident the over hits. No doubt Quarantillo has stoppage potential, but we think the battle-tested Barboza can withstand it for three rounds. Expect a war that has to be decided by the judges when it’s all said and done.
Moneyline: Dustin Jacoby vs. Azamat Murzakanov Pick
This too is a close fight per the latest betting odds. Jacoby is currently a -155 betting favorite over Murzakanov, as seen below:
Both fighters are somewhat journeymen in the light heavyweight division, who spent time away from UFC recently. Jacoby was released by the company in 2012, but fought himself back into it after an impressive multi-promotion run. He was undefeated in the second stint in the UFC until a “disputed” decision to Khalil Roundtree Jr. recently. Murzakanov has never lost in MMA but did have a two-year layoff from fighting semi-recently.
We’re picking Jacoby to get the win here. He’s 6-1-1 since resigning with UFC and has a real mean streak to him. He’s more battle-tested than Murzakanov, which could be the edge he needs to gut out the victory.
