Wimbledon's mens betting 2022

We probably don't need to tell you about Wimbledon's prestige at this point, but we do need to tell you who's most worth betting to win the Grand Slam event. Keep reading this for our own betting predictions for the 2022 singles title on the men's side. We've broken down the 2022 event and found two worthy candidates that could you score you a win once the tourney ends on July 10.

2022 Wimbledon Men's Tourney Preview

Any preview of the 2022 Wimbledon tourney has to begin with the big names that will NOT be participating at Church Road. The biggest no-go is Roger Federer, who is missing out on Wimbledon for the first time since 1998. The all-time great is still recovering after undergoing knee surgery last year and could be back by the US Open, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Also injured is world No. 2 Alexander Zverev. He recently underwent surgery to fix three torn ligaments in his right ankle sustained at Roland Garros during his semi-final clash against eventual winner Rafael Nadal. Then there's number-one-ranked Daniil Medvedev, who is banned from participating by the All England Club due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The three players' aforementioned absences (along with one-time No.3 Dominic Thiem) have opened the door for Novak Djokovic, who is the overwhelming favorite to the win 2022 event, per the top tennis betting sites. Here are the other top betting favorites in London. Let's have a look at the current Wimbledon betting odds.

Best Bets To Win 2022 Wimbledon Men's Singles

Our winning betting strategy consists of NOT making a single bet to win the 2022 Wimbledon men's singles event. No, we're actually taking a two-prong approach to the tourney. One bet is reserved for our most confident pick, while the other is our value pick, which also serves as a backup in case the other gets stunningly upset. Here are the two players we have in mind for each:

Novak Djokovic

This one was obvious, wasn't it? Well, loyal readers, it's obvious because Djokovic is the three-time-defending champion of this event. The Serbian has consecutive wins in 2018, 2019, and 2021 (the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic). Djokovic is attempting to become only the fourth player in the Open Era to have won Wimbledon four times straight β€” a short list that includes, BjΓΆrn Borg, Pete Sampras, and the aforementioned Federer.

The grass fields suit Djokovic's style incredibly well, hence his recent success (he's won Wimbledon six times in total). There's just something about the low-bouncing slick grass that allows Djokovic's movement to look and feel pristine. We'd argue no one in this field is better than Djokovic on the grass. This is the perfect remedy he needs to bounce back from an admittedly rough 2022 campaign.

Matteo Berrettini

We get it, calling the second-biggest favorite of the event a "darkhorse" feels like a stretch. Yet, that's exactly what Berrettini β€” and the rest of the field for that matter β€” feels like in comparison to Djokovic, who is a substantial frontrunner. But if anyone is to knock off the reigning champion, then our money says it's Berrettini.

Given their seedings, Berrettini and Djokovic wouldn't face off until the Finals β€” setting up a rematch of the 2021 event, which of course, was won by Novak in four sets. But here's the thing, we believe Berrettini has greatly improved since then. That's evident in his recent form, which includes back-to-back titles on the grass in Stuttgart and at The Queen’s Club.

Put simply, Djokovic has the reputation, but Berrettini is playing much better right now. That's why we advocate bets on both competitors and just let the "better man" win.
