Carlos Alcaraz Betting

Carlos Alcaraz is the new shiny toy in the world of men’s tennis. The 19-year-old had a breakout season in 2019, which has ascended him into the world’s No. 1 ranking. With this new notoriety, tennis online betting sites have rolled out special futures bets around Alcaraz’s 2023 performance. We believe there’s money to be made off of these if you can wait for the payout down the line.

Alcaraz 2022 Season Recap

Before we get into the 2023 predictions, we should probably recap Alcaraz's fast-rising 2022 season. Casual tennis bettors might not be completely familiar with the young phenom since he burst onto the scene so quickly, but we’re about to quickly cover what makes him the “next big thing” in tennis.

In 2022, Alcaraz went 57-13 with five title wins. He began the year ranked No. 32 and became No. 1 won after winning the US Open, his maiden Grand Slam victory. Alcaraz is the youngest ever No. 1 ranked player if you weren’t already impressed enough.

His 2022 campaign was cut short due to an injury. A stomach injury is forcing him out of the ATP Finals and Davis Cup. The injury is expected to keep him on the shelf for six weeks or so. That’s why Alcaraz is now focusing on 2023 and so are we with the futures bets we’ve handpicked. Let’s get into our betting picks next.

Best Alcaraz Futures Bets To Pick

There's a whole assortment of Alcaraz futures bets you can pick from, mostly revolving around his Grand Slam — Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open — performances. There are two wagers, in particular, we have our eyes and money on. Check out these picks:

Number of Grand Slam Wins

Here's an easy enough bet in concepts — how many Grand Slams does Alcaraz win next year — but much harder to actually predict. That's because there are five different betting options, all of which are at plus-money right now. Here are the current odds:

We're going to be completely upfront with this opinion: Alcaraz is the future of the sport, but we're not quite ready to say that future is now despite the No. 1 status. We'd still put Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal over the 19-year-old. External forces are why neither of the two is ranked ahead of Alcaraz right now. Of course, Djokovic was barred from multiple tournaments due to his unvaccinated status and Nadal caught an injury that either forced him out completely or slowed him down from two Grand Slams.

So long as Djokovic and Nadal can stay on the court in 2023, they'll pose a huge threat to Alcaraz at Grand Slam events. Heck, even players like Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev are dangerous to Alcaraz's hopes. Like Djokovic and Nadal, external issues stopped them from Grand Slam pursuits in 2022.

Our money says Alcaraz wins only one Grand Slam next year, and that's it. If we had to predict which one, then it might be the Australian Open. Alcaraz just shined on the hardcourts of Flushing Meadows so we could see that carrying over here on the same surface. Plus, the usual king of hard courts (Djokovic) might be battling playing rust going into this event, if he's even allowed to participate again.

No. 1 World Ranking End Of 2023

Alcaraz is currently on top of the tennis world, but will that be the case this time next year? Welp, there's a simple yes-or-not bet available on whether Alcaraz stays No. 1 or not, and these are how the betting lines shake out right now:

We're already on record saying Alcaraz will win one Grand Slam in 2023, and the first one at that. That's likely not going to be enough to sustain a No. 1 ranking the entire season if we're being honest.

Never mind just on the on-court performance, but there are other variables at play in this bet, mainly health. What if Alcaraz's current injury turns out to be worse than imagined? Heck, what if another new injury pops up mid-season which ruins his playing form? One thing going wrong could knock out Alcaraz from the No. 1 ranking, while everything has to go right to keep the top spot. To us, hoping for perfection seems too risky, which is why we're taking the no bet.
