2023 Miami Open preview
Last year Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest title winner at the age of 18 years and 333 days old when he defeated Casper Ruud in the final.
It was his first ATP Masters 1000 title, indicating bigger and better things were ahead. Alcaraz scored his first major victory at the 2022 US Open in September.
On the women's side of the draw, Iga Swiatek looks to defend her title after she became only the fourth woman to complete the Sunshine Double last year.
While both defending champions should return for the Miami Open, many are wondering if Novak Djokovic will be playing.
He had to withdraw from Indian Wells due to him not being permitted to enter the United States, as he is unvaccinated against Covid-19.
Miami Open tournament director James Blake stated they've petitioned for an exemption for the six-time Miami Open champion, but there's been little change to Djokovic status.
Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios have also confirmed that they will miss the tournament due to injuries. Nadal is still recovering from a hip injury while Kyrgios had knee surgery in January.
At this time the only major injury for the women's draw is Anett Kontaveit.

Best Bets For the 2023 Miami Open
Before making any bets, we recommend you check out all the details on the best betting bonuses and promotions available right now. You do not want to miss out on the sign-up bonuses that allow you to bet with house money!
I'd recommend that you ensure Novak Djokovic isn't playing before making these bets.
With that being said it's difficult to back anyone other than defending champion Carlos Alcaraz on the men's side. His impressive rise to the top-ranked tennis player at only 19 years old, shows how much promise and potential he has.
Alcaraz and Medvedev are the best hard court players in tennis right now. I expect this to become one of the best rivalries in tennis. Both are young and supremely talented as they attempt to become the best player in the game.
If betting on Alcaraz doesn't impress, I'd recommend Daniil Medvedev then, because he should have some more favorable odds.
On the women's side of the tournament, it comes down to the top-2 players. Returning champion Iga Swiatek has been very impressive at Indian Wells and I expect her to continue that performance in Miami.
Aryna Sabalenka will be a tough competitor as well after recently winning the Australian Open. I'm hoping we can get a Swiatek-Sabalenka match in the finals at Miami.
I can't knock you if you'd like to back either one of them as both seem like great bets to win. I'll back Swiatek this time.
