Spain's Carlos Alcaraz will be looking to threepeat as champion at ATP Indian Wells. The first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year, Alcaraz won the event in 2023 and 2024.

Oddsmakers like his chances of leaving the Coachella Valley with his third successive title. Alcaraz is set as the +250 betting favorite.

Alcaraz Dominant At Indian Wells

World No. 3 Alcaraz hasn't lost in this event since falling in three sets to Rafael Nadal in the 2022 semifinals. Since that setback, he's won 12 matches in succession.

In fact, over those 12 matches, he's only dropped two sets. One was to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in last year's semifinals. The other was a surprising 6-7(5) first-set loss to Italian Matteo Arnoldi in the Round of 64 in 2024. Alcaraz rebounded to take the next two sets 6-0, 6-1 and with the match.

The Spaniard is 11-2 this year. He won the tournament last month at Rotterdam for his 17th career ATP title.

Nine Years Since Djokovic Won Here

Djokovic won his first Indian Wells title in 2008. He also was the winner here in 2011 and then won three in a row from 2014-16.

Djokovic, Alcaraz and Roger Federer (2004-06) are the only players to threepeat as champion at Indian Wells.

Lately, though, it's been a well run dry for Djokovic. In his appearances since 2017 in the event, he's never made it past the Round of 16.

Zverev Set As Top Seed

The German player is holding down the world No. 2 ranking, and is the No. 1 seed in this tournament, even though he's yet to win a tournament in 2025. Zverev lost to Sinner in the Australian Open final. He's reached the quarter-final stages in two other events. He's 12-4 on the season.

There's not been much success for Zverev in this tournament. Last year, he fell to eventual champion Alcaraz 6-3, 6-1 in the quarter-finals. Zverev was ousted in the Round of 16 in 2023 and the Round of 32 in 2022.

Close But No Cigar For Medvedev

In recent history, no one has come closer to winning the Indian Wells title without winning the Indian Wells title than Daniil Medvedev. He's lost two years in a row to Alcaraz in the final.

Last year, the Spaniard defeated his Russian opponent 7-6(5), 6-1. In 2023, Alcaraz toppled Medvedev 6-3, 6-2 in the final.

Currently ranked No. 6 in the world, Medvedev, 29, shows a middling 8-5 record on the season. He reached the semifinals in Marseille. However, the Russian player hasn't won a match beyond the Round of 16 in any other event.

ATP Indian Wells Longshot Bets

The BNP Parabis Open, as the Indian Wells event is also known, always draws a deep field of the world's best players. This year is no different. Seventeen of the top 18 players in the ATP Tour men's singles rankings are at Indian Wells. Only world No. 1 Jannik Sinner is out. He's under suspension for a doping violation that occurred in Indian Wells a year ago.

Alcaraz and Djokovic are among four former champions in the field. You can get pretty good betting lines on the other two ex-champs.

Taylor Fritz, who beat Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the 2022 Indian Wells final, is set with odds of +1800. Fritz was the No. 20 seed in his title-winning year.

If you opt to back 2021 winner Cameron Norrie of Great Britian, you'll access even longer odds. He's been assigned a betting line of +20000. Norrie was the 29th seed the year he wore the crown at Indian Wells.

Tommy Paul (+3300) was a semifinalist here last year. Frances Tiafoe (+8000) reached the semifinals in 2023. Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime (+4000) was a quarter-finalist in 2024. Andrey Rublev (+4000) was in the final four in 2022 and Grigor Dimitrov (+8000) got that far in 2021.

And The Winner Is . . .

Sure, winning the same tournament three years in a row is a hard ask. So go ahead, tell us who's going to beat Alcaraz? Djokovic has gone nearly a year and a half since his last tour win. Medvedev is off to a stumbling start to 2025 and Zverev never plays well at Indian Wells.

Granted, the threepeat won't be easy for Alcaraz. He may have to go through both heavy-hitting Canadian Denis Shapovalov and Djokovic just to get out of his own quarter. Still, he loves this place and until someone shows they can beat him, go with Alcaraz in the ATP Indian Wells picks.
