2022 Australian Open Betting Picks
Predicting this tournament is always a challenge. It's even harder this year given the nature of the player pool amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, we have a number of Australian Open 2022 outright odds we think will be useful to you.
Australian Open Men's Picks
Since we've already dropped the Australian Open betting odds for the men's draw, let's hop right into our favorite picks.
Novak Djokovic (+162)
Highlighting Novak Djokovic is non-negotiable. We have to do it. He's too dominant.
Sure, Djokovic is working off a rough year, one in which he became mired in controversy both on the court—he was disqualified from the US Open for accidentally hitting a line judge with a ball—and off it. But he still finished atop the world rankings for a sixth consecutive season.
Nothing about his playstyle suggests he'll collapse at the Australian Open, which he has now won eight times. He is the quintessential blend of power and tact—and a heavy favorite for a reason.
Dominic Thiem (+120)
With Rodger Federer recovering from knee surgery, Djokovic has two primary threats as we see it: Rafael Nadal (+500) and Dominic Thiem.
The latter is our favorite.
For starters, Thiem dispatched Djokovic himself during the ATP Finals, so he's no stranger to going up against the world's best player. Mostly, though, he's just never been playing better. He closed 2020 converting 63 percent of his first serves and winning 74 percent of his first-serve points. Controlling the pace of play is a must against Djokovic, and he's among the best to do it.
Alexander Zverev (+1200)
If you're sleeping on the 23-year-old Alexander Zverev, it's time to wake up. He is a threat to win the 2022 Australian Open.
Zverev verged on dominant during the 2020 playing year. He has worked his way up to No. 3 on the world rankings while really buttoning up the fundamentals of his game. He has a real chance at this years' competition, though it'll be tough to stop the Serb.
Given his uptick inaccuracy, he's a threat to beat anyone he faces.
Men's Australian Open Prediction
This might come as a slight shock, but we're rolling with Dominic Thiem.
Novak Djokovic is always a threat to blow everyone out of the water, but we've noticed a few too many red flags in the way The Joker has played lately. But, the fact of the matter is, Thiem is part of the younger generation and Djokovic is getting towards the latter stage of his career.
Thiem is at the top of his game. The pressure he puts on opponents with his consistency during rallies and at the net has become underrated. He'll need to convert a slightly higher number of his first serves if he ends up facing Djokovic or Nadal to win it all, but he's fully capable of doing so.
OSB Prediction: Dominic (+600)

But now, let's get to some picks!
Naomi Osaka (+350)
It seems like only yesterday Naomi Osaka had beaten Serena Williams as an immense underdog. Now she's the thirteenth-ranked player in the world. Life comes at you fast—sort of like Osaka's play style.
The 24-year-old spent 2020 winning more than 85 percent of the games she served and more than 70 percent of the breakpoints she faced. She can be prone to unforced errors, but she's really honed the mental part of her game, too. Though 2021 was a rough year, dropping out of tournaments and now performing to the standard expected of her.
Expect Osaka to bounce bank in 2022 and take a number of major titles.
Bianca Andreescu (+850)
Bianca Andreescu is a true dark horse. Many have forgotten about how talented she is since she missed all of 2020 with a left knee injury and part of 2019 with some health problems.
Rest assured, though, she remains a high-level threat. Back in 2019, she was converting a whopping 61.8 percent of her first serves while winning over 73 percent of the games she served. Bettors have thus far overlooked her. You can buck that trend.
She again his troubles in 2021, but looks to be back in training and stronger than ever. Keep an eye on the Canadian in 2022.
Women's Australian Open Prediction
We've decided to be boring and select Naomi Osaka.
She's improving at too rapid of a clip to ignore. Everything from her play at the net to her service game to the angles she uses on her backhand is getting better. That should ultimately prove terrifying for the rest of the tour.
On the bright side, going with the favorite in this case is is worth it at +350.
OSB Prediction: Naomi Osaka (+350)
