Poland will look to secure its place in the World Cup knockout stages in a difficult group-stage matchup against Lionel Messi and Argentina on Wednesday. Currently leading Group C with four points, Poland faces its most difficult task yet, slated for a clash vs. Argentina, who rebounded well after getting stunned by Saudi Arabia in their tournament opener. We're going to make some World Cup betting picks for the Poland vs. Argentina clash on Wednesday.

Poland vs. Argentina Odds
Heading into the matchup, Poland is a massive underdog against Argentina. Poland enters with (+600) odds to win, while Argentina is favored at (-210). The draw is also a longshot, boasting (+330) odds for a tie. The spread favors Argentina to win by at least one goal, sitting at Argentina -1.0 (-122), while the total favors the over of 2.5 goals at (-122).
Poland Best Bets
This matchup is not a favorable one for Poland, and the odds represent that. With Argentina still in need of a win to advance to the knockout stages, they'll be locked in for Wednesday's matchup, knowing their fate in the 2022 FIFA World Cup relies upon a positive result. While Poland has yet to concede at the World Cup, that will surely be put to the test on Wednesday with a determined Lionel Messi lining up on the opposite side.
Poland has two clean sheets through its first two games, holding Mexico scoreless in a 0-0 draw before taking down Morocco, 2-0. Despite that trend, I'm expecting the Argentinian squad to make some noise in the attacking third and give Wojciech Szczesny a run for his money in goal.
As for Poland's attack, I'm not envisioning them to have much success. Argentina figures to win the midfield battle against Poland so opportunities for Robert Lewandowski will be few and far between. While he is finally on the board with his first World Cup goal, it will be difficult for him to add to his tally against an Argentinian team playing with a chip on its shoulder.
Including their run at the World Cup, Poland has only scored more than one goal in two of its last eight games. Prior to conceding two goals against Saudi Arabia, Argentina had not conceded a single goal since a March 29 matchup against Ecuador. Because of those trends, I'm not expecting Poland to get on the board at all on Wednesday. The pick here is Poland Team Total Goals Under 0.5 (-118).
Argentina Best Bets
Argentina is massively favored in this game, and rightfully so. Despite a shocking defeat against Saudi Arabia, Argentina remains one of the best teams in the world, and will look to prove that on Wednesday. With just three goals in their first two games of the World Cup, Lionel Messi and Co. will be determined to put up some big goalscoring numbers against Poland and secure a spot in the knockout stages.
With the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala, Alejandro Gomez, and Messi all available in attack, this team is one of the most dangerous and clinical in front of the net across the entire tournament. They've yet to fully put that on display, but showed glimpses against Mexico.
They took down Mexico 2-0, and heading into the World Cup, Argentina had scored two or more goals in six consecutive games. Poland has played outstanding defense at the World Cup, but I'm not expecting that trend to continue. Argentina simply has too much talent in their attack to be denied by the Polish defense, so I'm expecting them to get at least two goals in the game.
The first bet I'm targeting on the side of Argentina is the Team Total of Over 1.5 Goals at (-132). With Argentina in dire need of a victory, their goalscorers will need to step up, and I'm willing to bet they do just that. After getting two goals across vs. Mexico, Argentina shouldn't have too much trouble recording a similar tally against Poland, where they'll have an advantage in pace and agility.
In addition to the Argentina team total, as previously mentioned, I don't envision Poland recording a goal against their strong defense. The Argentine defense will be at its best on Wednesday, doing all they can to play mistake-free soccer and make life difficult for Robert Lewandowski. I'm envisioning a one-sided Argentina victory on Wednesday, and because of that, I'm going to take Argentina to record a shutout victory at (+120).
