After getting things underway with a 4-1 win in their 2022 World Cup debut against Australia on Tuesday, France is set to take on Denmark in a huge Group D matchup. Denmark drew against Tunisia in its opening matchup of the tournament, and will look to carry on with an upset win over France. We're going to look at some of the best bets for France vs. Denmark at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

France vs. Denmark Odds
France is favored heading into the matchup against Denmark, but only just. France enters the matchup with +110 odds to win, whereas Denmark has +275 odds to pull off a victory. A draw is considered to be more likely than a Denmark victory, coming in at +230 for a tie. The game is leaning towards France with a spread of France -0.5 at -125, with the total listed at 2.5 goals leaning towards the under at-115.
France Best Bets
After taking down Australia on Tuesday, France is facing its most difficult group-stage matchup against Denmark. While France is considered among the tournament favorites, Denmark will look to use its defense to keep France's superstars humble. While they're still overflowing with talent, the loss of Christopher Nkunku and Karim Benzema to injury is a sizable blow for France, who didn't even replace Benzema with a fresh face.
France is the superior team up and down the pitch, but still, Denmark should not be discounted. While France is among the best teams at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, their recent form says otherwise. France lost to Denmark in its most recent game before the World Cup in a humbling 2-0 defeat. Prior to Tuesday's 4-1 win against Australia, France had only won one of its previous six games. Among those six games were two defeats against Denmark.
Because of their recent struggles against the Danish national team, we're going to avoid taking France Money Line, even if it's tempting with plus odds. During their last two games against Denmark, France managed just one total goal. With Denmark coming off a goalless draw against Tunisia, I don't have high hopes for their offense against France. Because of that, I'm going to bet on there to be a goalless first half. The bet here is Total Goals First Half UNDER 1.0 at -143.
While France will have the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud and other star attackers available, losing Benzema and Nkunku is a huge blow. I believe this will impact their ability to finish in the attacking third. After a goalless first half, I believe the teams will amp things up a bit, and thus I'm going to double down by betting on there to be more goals in the second half than the first. The second bet here is "Highest Scoring Half: Second Half (+110)."
Denmark Best Bets
The Danes will be led by their stalwart defense, looking to smother opponents and prevent them from scoring rather than run up the score themselves. With Kasper Schmeichel in goal, Denmark has one of the tournament's most experienced and talented goalkeepers protecting the net. Defensively, Denmark figures to roll with a back-three of Andreas Christensen, Simon Kjaer, and Joachim Andersen, all of whom will be difficult for France to break down.
They have a physical squad, led by tough midfielders Pierre Emilie Hojbjerg and Thomas Delaney, both of whom will look to wear down their opponents throughout the 90 minutes. Denmark's recent stranglehold over France in their head-to-head matchup is encouraging, and they could use their size and strength to once again suffocate the French attackers in a low-scoring affair.
After a strong showing at the 2020 EURO Tournament, Denmark will be keen to prove their success was no joke. However, they failed to break down Tunisia in their World Cup opener. Their defense was outstanding as usual, but a lack of convincing finishing in the final third is cause for concern. Tunisia actually had better chances to score than Denmark did throughout the game, though it never truly looked as if either team was on the verge of a goal.
Still, despite their offensive inefficiency, I'm backing the Danish defense to stand tall and get the job done against the pacey French squad. It will be a matchup of finesse vs. physicality, and I feel that will favor Denmark. As we saw with Australia taking an early lead, this French team is mistake-prone, so Denmark will look to capitalize on an error and steal a goal. The pick here is Denmark Money Line at +275. It's a risk, but the recent trends are too hard to ignore.
