Everton is once again fighting off a relegation threat, but it has been more effective at home in recent weeks and that makes it a value bet against Fulham on Saturday.

Everton Faces Survival Fight

Everton is once again fighting for survival in the Premier League, and Saturday's match against a team with little to play for already feels like a vital clash.

Last week, the team's performance at Old Trafford resulted in a 2-0 loss, and this defeat worsened an already terrible away record, as they have now only won two of Premier League games on the road. At Old Trafford, Jordan Pickford had to make nine saves in the match, and without its reliable goalkeeper, things would have been a lot worse for the Toffees this season.

Under Dyche, however, Everton has performed significantly better at Goodison Park, accumulating 10 of an achievable 15 points since he took over. Four of its five opponents at Goodison have also finished in the top part of the table, making their home record considerably more impressive.

Nonetheless, given that West Ham, Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Bournemouth all recorded victories last weekend, the pressure on the hosts for this match has increased. Everton currently lies in 17th place in the Premier League with 23 goals scored in 30 matches, the worst in the league.

Fulham’s European Hopes Over

As a result of five consecutive defeats, Fulham's European qualification hopes are essentially over. Losing narrowly to Brentford, Arsenal, and in controversial circumstances to Manchester United could be forgiven, but the losses to Bournemouth and West Ham were more concerning, especially considering that West Ham had just suffered a 5-1 home loss to Newcastle United.

Goodison Park is not the ideal venue for them to attempt a comeback either, given their terrible record at this stadium. Prior to their 2-0 victory behind closed doors in 2021, they had a record-setting 22-game losing streak on the road against Everton and Fulham boss Marco Silva has also never gained a victory at this stadium, the most notable failure being when he was the manager of Watford and his team gave up a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Goodison Park in 2017.

EPL Betting Head-to-Head

Everton was one of the twelve founding teams of the first Football League in 1888, making it one of the oldest in the world, but Fulham can also claim a long heritage as the oldest club in London, founded in 1879.

Fulham did not join the Football League until 1907, and the two teams did not meet on the pitch until 1926, when Fulham won an FA Cup match that required a reply.

The head-to-head record indicates that Everton has dominated this rivalry, winning 31 times to Fulham's 21 and drawing 14 times. Since Fulham became a Premier League regular in the early 2000s, Everton has largely had the better of the rivalry, winning 12 of the last 20, although the London club has fought back in recent months, winning two of the last four and earning a draw against Everton in October.

EPL Team News

After missing nine consecutive games, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has resumed training and could be involved in the Everton squad for this match. Ellis Simms and Demarai Grey may therefore be relegated to the bench if Dyche decides to employ James Garner or Tom Davies in the midfield area.

For Fulham, the team news is less encouraging. As Aleksandar Mitrovic continues to serve his eight-match suspension, Carlos Vinicius is expected to deputize up front once more.

Willian returned to the lineup on Saturday after serving a single-game ban for his role in the United controversy, and Kenny Tete and Issa Diop could regain their starting spots in Fulham's back four after being replaced at Craven Cottage last weekend. Meanwhile, Layvin Kurzawa and Neeskens Kebano remain out with injuries.

EPL Match Betting Pick

Everton’s poor goal-scoring record and the continued absence of Fulham’s main striker strongly suggest that this will be a game that is light on goal action, but the odds in the Under 2.5 goals market indicate that the bookmakers are predicting a low-scoring game, so there is little value in that market. Instead, it could be worth siding with Everton here. Dyche knows how to get the best out of limited teams in relegation battles, and the home team looks the best option in the match betting market.
