The Brier
The formidable lineup includes 14 provincial and territorial champions, the reigning champions from Team Canada, and three additional teams that secured their spots through the Canadian Team Ranking System.
The 18 teams are divided into two pools of nine, engaging in an intense eight-game round-robin format. Subsequently, the top three teams from each pool will progress to the playoff round. In the event of a tie for the final playoff berth, head-to-head rankings will be utilized for resolution, as there are no tiebreaker games scheduled this year. If needed, last stone draw rankings will serve as the final determinant.
The playoff stage is set to commence on March 8, culminating in the championship match on March 10 at 6 p.m.
The ultimate victor at Montana's Brier will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent Canada at the 2024 World Men's Curling Championship in Switzerland, scheduled from March 30 to April 7.
Team Canada (Gushue) (+175)

At 43 years old, Gushue, a two-time defending champion, secured victories in London in 2023 and Lethbridge in 2022. Throughout his extensive 21 Brier appearances, the Newfoundland native has clinched five first-place finishes, including a triumph in Regina back in 2018. Gushue, the most successful skip in Brier history, is set to compete in 2024 with the identical lineup.
Team Alberta (Bottcher) (+200)
Squad: Skip - Brendan Bottcher, third - Marc Kennedy, second - Brett Gallant, lead - Ben Hebert, coach - Paul Webster.
Heading into the Brier, the Calgary team arrives as the highest-ranked squad, having earned their spot through the Canadian Team Ranking System. At 32 years old, Bottcher, a seasoned competitor in his eighth Brier appearance, has secured third place in the last two editions following his championship victory in 2021. Notably, he boasts an impressive record of three consecutive second-place finishes in 2018, 2019, and 2020. Accompanying him is Hebert, hailing from Regina, set to participate in his 16th Brier, adding a wealth of experience to the Calgary squad.
Team Manitoba (Dunstone) (+500)
Squad: Skip - Matt Dunstone, third - B.J. Neufeld, second - Colton Lott, lead - Ryan Harnden, alternate - Rob Gordon, coach - Adam Kingsbury.
Aged 28, Dunstone, who narrowly fell to Brad Gushue in the final last year, is gearing up for his sixth Brier appearance. Before returning to represent his home province of Manitoba in 2023, Dunstone had twice secured third place as the skip of Team Saskatchewan in 2020 and 2021. Currently based in Winnipeg, he swiftly secured qualification as the second team through the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS), positioning him as one of the formidable contenders for the upcoming competition.
Team Alberta (Koe) (+700)
Squad: Skip - Kevin Koe, third - Tyler Tardi, second - Jacques Gauthier, lead - Karrick Martin, coach - Mike Libbus
At the age of 49, Koe is poised to make his 12th appearance at the Brier, boasting four victories (2010, 2014, 2016, 2019) and securing second place on four occasions (2012, 2017, 2021, 2022). This year, the Calgary club has undergone a transformation with the inclusion of Gauthier, who led B.C. in the previous year. Tardi and Martin joined the team two seasons ago. Despite a commendable 7-1 pool play record last year, Koe faced defeat against Mike McEwen in the page playoff game.
Team Manitoba (Carruthers) (+1200)
Squad: Skip - Brad Jacobs, third - Reid Carruthers, second - Derek Samagalski, lead - Connor Njegovan, coach - Rob Meakin.
Jacobs, the 2013 Brier champion representing Northern Ontario and a 2014 Olympic gold medalist, teamed up with Carruthers and his crew for a shot at the Manitoba provincial title this season, ultimately triumphing over Braden Calvert. With an impressive track record spanning 14 Brier appearances, Jacobs has secured one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. This year marks his 12th appearance at the Brier. On the other hand, Carruthers, who clinched gold as the second on Jeff Stoughton's team in 2013, will be making his 12th Brier appearance as well. Last year, Carruthers led his own Wild Card team, which posted a 4-4 record in pool play, narrowly missing out on the playoffs.
