With the Paris 2024 Olympic tennis tournament taking place on the clay at Roland Garros, Iga Swiatek looks nailed on for the gold medal. Swiatek (-188) is the odds-on favorite and in our Olympics tennis betting picks we tell you if she is going to be standing on top of the podium.

  • What: 2024 Paris Olympics Women’s Tennis Singles
  • Where: Stade Roland Garros, Paris, France
  • When: Saturday, July 27th - Sunday, August 4th

The clay of Roland Garros has witnessed some extraordinary moments over the years hosting Grand Slam tennis events. But over the next few days it will be hosting the 2024 Paris Olympics, and with that comes a whole different set of emotions and experiences as the world's best players battle it out for a gold medal.

One person in pole position to add an Olympic gold to her already impressive collection of titles is Iga Swiatek.

The 23-year-old is fresh from winning her third-straight French Open and fourth in five years, and with the clay surface perfectly suiting her game, it’s easy to see why Iga Swiatek is an overwhelming favorite to claim another Paris title over the coming days.

If playing on the clay at Roland Garros isn’t enough to assist Swiatek, then the absence of world No. 3 Aryna Sabalenka will further increase the Pole's chances of claiming the gold.

Along with Ons Jabeur, Sabalenka has decided to skip a return to clay. Due to a combination of injury and fatigue, the duo have decided they would be better off taking a break to prepare for the upcoming American hardcourt season.

As a result, Iga Swiatek is just -188 to win the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medal. Her odds shortened from -175 on the news that Sabalenka had decided to withdraw.

The new second favorite is now Coco Gauff at +600, with Elena Rybakina third in the betting at +900, and Naomi Osaka and Mirra Andreeva both at +1400.

Swiatek looks unstoppable at Roland Garros

Iga Swiatek is fast becoming the Rafa Nadel of women’s tennis.

On the clay of Roland Garros, she boasts a 35-2 record, and she is on a winning streak of 21 with three consecutive Grand Slam wins in the French capital.

There is a chink of light for all her rivals hoping to win Olympic gold over the coming days.

In round two of the recent French Open against Naomi Osaka, Swiatek did have to stave off a match point. But the Polish world No.1 proved that you don’t give her a second chance, by fighting back to beat Osaka 7-5 in the third and deciding set.

The rest, as they say, is history. In total, Swiatek only dropped 37 games at Roland Garros, and 17 were against Osaka in the second round. The match was arguably Swiatek's final.

Another chance for Gauff on the clay

Coco Gauff is another player set to benefit from the withdrawal of Aryna Sabalenka. In the 2023 and 2024 Australian Open champion’s absence, Gauff is now the +600 second-favorite to win.

Like Swiatek, Gauff had a disappointing Wimbledon. And like Swiatek, Guaff also performs better on clay.

The biggest problem for the 20-year-old American is that she was well beaten by Swiatek when the two met at the semi-final stage of Roland Garros a few weeks ago.

Gauff went down in straight sets, losing 6-2, 6-4. The one positive she can take from the loss is she must now have a better idea of what is required to beat Swiatek. Doing it, though, is something else.

Our Pick to win the women’s gold medal

Onto our Olympics betting picks, and there is only one name we can choose and that is Iga Swiatek.

All the evidence points towards another win for the world No.1. She is a formidable opponent on clay, and she won’t have over-exerted herself at Wimbledon after exiting the tournament in the third round.

Iga Swiatek is our pick to win the gold medal in the women’s singles at the Paris Olympics.

Any outside bets?

Surely Jasmine Paolini and Naomi Osaka have to be worth a look?

Paolini has just made the final of the French Open, so can play on the clay at Roland Garros. Likewise, so can Naomi Osaka, who came within a whisker of ending Swiatek’s winning run at Roland Garros.

Jasmine Paolini is +2000 and Naomi Osaka is +1400. On the evidence we have seen, they have got to be two of the players who hold a chance, however small, of defeating Swiatek and putting an end to her clay court domination.
