2024 Paris Olympics Men's 57 kg Boxing Betting Picks

Boxing is one of the marquee events at any Olympics, and at the 2024 Paris Games, the 57 kg division stands out. Three top-class boxers are all looking for Olympic gold, and in our latest Olympics betting picks, we tell you who to get your money on.

  • What: 2024 Paris Olympic Boxing 57kg division
  • Where: Arena Paris Nord (prelims phase) and Roland Garros (final phase)
  • When: Saturday, July 27th – Saturday, August 10th

Boxing betting is looking a bit of an endangered species at the Olympic Games. A lot of water is still yet to go under the bridge, but as things stand, the sport might not be present at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles.

If this is to be the last time - for a while at least - we see Boxing at the Games, what a way for it to go out, because in the 57 kg category, there is an exciting three-way battle at the top of the betting.

Betting to win the Men's 57 kg Boxing gold

Abdumalik Khalokov of Uzbekistan leads the betting at +200. Makhmud Sabyrkhan of Kazakhstan is second-favorite at +350 and Jahmal Harvey of the United States is +450.

They are the three favorites, and the chances are the gold medal will go to one of those three.

Javier Ibanez Diaz of Bulgaria is +600 and Luiz Oliveira of Brazil is +800.

At those odds, they look in with a chance of getting a medal. But, with the 57 kg division being so competitive, a lot would have to go in either fighter's favor for one to have a chance of making it onto the top step of the podium for the medal ceremony.

Abdumalik Khalokov +200

Abdumalik Khalokov is a 24-year-old orthodox fighter from Uzbekistan.

In 2023, Khalokov won the gold medal at the IBA Men's World Boxing Championships fighting at featherweight. He also won a silver at the same games in 2021 fighting at lightweight. A decorated fighter, Khalokov has also won gold medals at featherweight at the Asian Games and Asian Championships, both in 2022.

Khalokov is probably the most complete fighter in the 57 kg category. He has good footwork, is light on his feet, and he combines this well with his excellent head movement.

The Uzbek can invite pressure with a low guard. But this complements his fighting style, allowing him to quickly get in and out, landing a flurry of blows in the process.

His style can lead to him looking slightly cocky, and there is always that chance that he will get caught, but it’s the way he rolls, and so far, the style has served him well - although Makhmud Sabyrkhan and Jahmal Harvey may have something to say about that.

Makhmud Sabyrkhan +350

Makhmud Sabyrkhan is a 22-year-old Kazakh boxer.

He first shot to prominence by winning silver at the 2021 IBA World Boxing Championships. But in 2023 at the World Boxing Championships in Tashkent, he went one better and bagged himself the gold.

Other achievements include winning a silver in 2022 at the Asian Championships in Amman.

He qualified for the Paris Games with four straight wins over Fikremariyam Yadesa Leta, Sukthet Sarawut, Caleb Tirado, and Asror Vokhidov at the 2024 Olympics 1st World Qualification Tournament at Busto Arsizio, Italy, in March.

Sabyrkhan is a talented boxer, but isn’t the quickest on his feet, often relying on his head movement to keep him out of trouble. Whether this tactic will be successful at Olympic level is debatable.

Another thing that could count against the Southpaw Kazakh is his size. At 5’5, Sabyrkhan is one of the smaller men in the division.

Jahmal Harvey +450

21-year-old Jahmal Harvey is an American boxer who won a gold medal at the 2021 World Championships in the Featherweight division and a gold medal at the Pan-American Games in Santiago in 2023.

Harvey is widely considered to be the USA’s best chance of winning a boxing gold at the Paris Games. He needs to win in Paris to complete the triple-crown, having already won golds at the AIBA World Championships and Pan-Am Games.

Hailing from Oxon Hill, Maryland, Harvey is a gifted fighter aiming to be the first American since Andre Ward in 2004 to claim gold when he gets in the ring in Paris.

Harvey sounds confident about his chances in France, stating that there is no pressure on him to deliver in Paris.

We agree with Harvey’s assessment, and would also add that a boxer fighting with freedom and without pressure could be the most dangerous opponent.

At +450, Jahmal Harvey could be the best value bet of the three favorites to win Paris gold.
