The Dallas Stars will have an opportunity to even up their series with the Vegas Golden Knights at two on Monday as they visit the defending champs once again at T-Mobile Arena. As you can see, there's not necessarily a favorite in Game 4. The Stars sit at -117 odds, while the Golden Knights return at -103. The total in goals is set at six, with the under being hit in two of the three contests so far. Something to keep in mind when betting on Monday's tilt.

Stars Get on The Board

Yes, the Stars were one of the best teams in the Western Conference, but they knew that facing Vegas would always be a difficult task. That definitely proved to be the case in Games 1 and 2, losing both at home and getting outscored 7-3 in the process. But with their backs up against the wall on Saturday, Dallas dug deep and found a victory. Johnston, who is only in his second NHL season, played hero in this one. He scored the opening goal before the OT winner. Miro Heskanen also got on the scoresheet, while Jason Robertson, their points leader during the regular season, tallied a pair of assists.

Dallas had the third-best offense in 2023-24, scoring 3.59 goals per game. Robertson's 80 points were a team-best, while Joe Pavelski, Matt Duchene, Roope Hintz, Johnston, and Jamie Benn were all sitting over 60 points, too. In the playoffs, Heiskanen and Robertson lead the way with four points apiece. It's important to note however that most of the main guys and a negative plus-minus rating, which isn't exactly ideal. Saturday was a step in the right direction and the Stars must build on that.

Duchene, Hintz, and Pavelski have yet to tally a single point in the series. If they're going to come back and potentially advance, the trio needs to get it going and start contributing. That's what made them such a force in the season, their depth. Game 4 is on the road before Dallas heads back home for Game 5, where they will hopefully be tied 2-2 in the series.

Can Vegas Respond at Home?

Golden Knights fans will have fond memories of the team's epic Stanley Cup run last season, but I'm sure they weren't too happy to see their team lose in the first playoff game since then. Even though it ended in defeat, however, Vegas put up a real fight in Game 3. Logan Thompson was wonderful in net, making a whopping 43 saves on 46 shots. He's been playing at a high level the entire series. The Knights went down 0-2 early in the second period but managed to storm back, with Brayden McNabb and Jack Eichel both scoring to tie things up.

It was a quiet third period before going to overtime where Johnston of course won it. Vegas was outshot 46-34 in this matchup but did show their physicality, registering 47 hits to just 23 for the Stars. I'm not sure if many people thought the Golden Knights would be a Cup contender again after barely getting into the playoffs as a Wild Card, but we have to remember, this is essentially the same roster as last season when they went all the way. This group is capable of big things.

Jack Eichel is their best guy in the postseason through three outings, scoring twice and assisting another three. Noah Hanifin, Brayden McNabb, and Jonathan Marchessault are all doing their part, too. Mark Stone has just one goal after returning from the LTIR, but it's expected he'll find his groove soon enough as well.

Stars vs Golden Knights Game 4 Picks

I have a difficult time believing the Golden Knights will lose at home again. After all, they were 27-12-2 at T-Mobile during the season. I'm taking Vegas to win Game 4 and put themselves up 3-1 in the conference quarterfinals.
