- What: Wednesday NHL Picks
- Who: Anaheim Ducks at Ottawa Senators
- When: Wednesday, December 11, 7:30 p.m.
In the Wednesday NHL picks, the Anaheim Ducks are seeking to bring an end to a three-game losing skid and the Ottawa Senators may be just the elixir to provide a solution to their problems.
Anaheim has won three games in a row against the Senators. That includes the last visit by the Ducks to Ottawa, a 5-1 rout on Feb. 15, 2024.
The Ducks also beat the Senators 4-3 in a shootout earlier this month in Anaheim. Still, Ottawa is set as -235 home favorites in the NHL picks for this game.
Let's look at the latest betting line on this game. Odds are subject to change.
Puck Line | Moneyline | Total | |
---|---|---|---|
Anaheim Ducks | +1.5 (-130) | +195 | O 6 (-117) |
Ottawa Senators | -1.5 (+110) | -235 | U 6 (-103) |
These two teams once clashed in the Stanley Cup final, but that was a long time ago in 2007. Currently, Ottawa (12-13-2) is 13th in the Eastern Conference. Anaheim (10-12-4) is 14th in the Western Conference.
There are just two NHL games on the agenda during a quiet Wednesday night of action, and this game is one that we think provides the best bets of the night in the NHL picks.

Ducks vs Senators Betting Trends
Anaheim is 3-1 straight up in the club's past four visits to Ottawa. In the last nine games against the Senators, the Ducks are 7-2 SU. However, in all games of late, Anaheim is a dismal 1-4 SU through the past five.
The Senators aren't faring much better, showing a 4-8 SU slate through their past 12 games. Ottawa is 3-6 SU in the club's last nine home games. The Sens are also a disappointing 2-5 SU in their last seven showdowns with teams from the Pacific Division.
Goals are generally at a premium when these two squads meet. The losing team in 21 of the last 23 Ottawa vs Anaheim games has scored two goals or fewer. Not surprisingly then, six of the last seven games between these two teams have gone under. Each of the last seven Anaheim at Ottawa games have gone under.
Then again, five of Ottawa last six games against Western Conference opposition have gone over. However, five of Anaheim's last six road games and seven of 10 Ducks games overall hit on the under.
Ottawa is 7-8-2 SU as a betting favorite. The Sens are 5-10 against the puck line as a home team. Anaheim is 9-2 against the puck line on the road. The Ducks are 8-15-4 SU as the underdog in the betting line.
Ducks Struggling To Score
Anaheim has scored two goals or fewer in four of the last five games. The one exception was that 4-3 home-ice win over the Senators on Dec. 1. On the flip side, they've allowed at least three goals in each of the last four games.
Since a season-best 4-1 SU run, Anaheim has gone 2-4-2 SU in the ensuing eight games. In the 108 games since Greg Cronin took over as head coach, the Ducks have played 54 one-goal games, or games in which empty-net goals created a wider advantage.
Troy Terry scored twice in Monday's 3-2 loss at Montreal. He's leading the Ducks with eight goals. Anaheim goalie John Gibson is 4-2-2 with a .945 save percentage and 1.61 goals-against average when facing Ottawa.
Senators Can't Locate Consistency
Ottawa was ending a five-game losing streak with a recent 4-1-1 run. However, they've have four chances this season to extend two-game win streaks to three, and lost each time. The most recent failure was Sunday's 4-2 loss to the New York Islanders.

Tim Stutzle is leading the Senators in assists (24) and points (34). He's on pace for 30 goals and 104 points this season. Captain Brady Tkachuk’s 13 goals, including two against the Ducks, tops the team.
Anaheim vs Ottawa NHL Picks
While the Ducks are finding ways to keep games close, they still aren't making them count enough. Anaheim has lost eight one-goal games, four of those losses coming via shootout or overtime setback. They've also won eight one-goal decisions.
What that tells us is expect this to be a close game that comes down to the wire. And looking at Anaheim's 9-2 mark against the puck line as an away team this season, take the Ducks to cover at +1.5 against the Senators in the Wednesday NHL picks.
