Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 3 Odds
After the dominant 5-1 road victory, the Oilers are a -171 favorite here. In fact, they've yet to be an underdog through the first three games. The Golden Knights come back at +154. Vegas hasn't lost in the postseason on the road in the 2023 playoffs.
Game 3 Preview
Following a deflating 6-4 loss in Game 1, Edmonton knew they had to respond Saturday, or else they'd be looking at an 0-2 hole heading back to Oil Country. Needless to say, Jay Woodcroft's group delivered. The Oilers came out of the gates all guns blazing, going up 4-0 within the first period.
Draisaitl continued his phenomenal postseason with two goals in the opening period, while Evan Bouchard and McDavid also found the back of the net. The best player in the world then added another in the second before Vegas got on the scoresheet in the third.
The 27-year-old Draisaitl is really proving his worth and solidifying himself as an elite talent. The German has 13 goals and four assists in just eight playoff games so far. He's basically carrying Edmonton. Tensions certainly boiled over once the Oilers took the contest out of reach though as Evander Kane and others got into it with the Golden Knights. There's no love lost between these two teams, who were neck in neck in the Western Conference this season at one and two.
The Golden Knights will undoubtedly be very disappointed with their first loss of the postseason, especially since it came at home. From the get-go, Vegas was in a massive hole. Penalty trouble didn't help, giving the Oilers six penalties in total. In fact, three of Edmonton's five goals came on the man advantage.
Bruce Cassidy's squad was outshot 19-4 in the first period and really couldn't find any offensive rhythm. Netminder Laurent Brossoit conceded all five goals before he was pulled at the end of the second in favor of Adin Hill, who made four saves in the third.
Ivan Barbashev scored the only goal for the Golden Knights, his fourth of the playoffs. Vegas needs the likes of Mark Stone, Chandler Stephenson, and Jack Eichel to step up and produce in Game 3 because it's going to be very difficult to slow down the Oilers' star-studded offense. The only way they make this competitive is by exploiting Edmonton's biggest weakness: Defense.
Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 3 Picks
Edmonton tends to play well at home, owning an 11-2 record in their last 13 at Rogers Place. That being said, take the Oilers moneyline.
