Hurricanes vs Rangers Odds
As you can see, there is no clear favorite. The Canes and Rangers both boast -105 odds at BetOnline. After all, just six points separate the two rivals. However, New York has had the upper hand this season. They've won both meetings thus far, outscoring Carolina 11-5. Certainly a good sign for the hosts.
Carolina vs New York Preview
The Hurricanes still lead the Metropolitan Divison with 98 points and also sit in second in the Eastern Conference, but they were just dealt a crushing blow. One of their best players, Andrei Svechnikov, tore his ACL earlier in the month and will miss the rest of the year. Far from ideal for a Carolina group with Stanley Cup aspirations. Nonetheless, the Canes are still a very good team, ranking 12th in goals scored and second in the fewest goals allowed. They're truly making a living defensively, also sitting first in fewest shots on goal allowed, third in penalty kill percentage, and sixth in penalty minutes. Rod Brind'Amour's squad has won only twice in their last five contests though, losing to conference rivals such as the Maple Leafs and Devils. On a more positive note, Carolina bounced back on Saturday evening in the City of Brotherly Love. Sebastian Aho, who is already expected to step up in a big way with Svechnikov sidelined, bagged a hat trick to take his tally to 30 for the campaign. That included the OT winner. Aho will need to be firing on all cylinders in the Big Apple on Tuesday as well.
The Rangers are getting hot at the appropriate time and have been showing they could be a real force in the playoffs, especially after acquiring Patrick Kane at the deadline. Four consecutive victories for New York and a 7-2-1 record in their previous 10 games is certainly impressive, with the offense absolutely thriving during that span. In fact, the Rangers have produced 22 goals during this unbeaten run. That includes 13 goals in the last two while keeping clean sheets in both outings. First, Gerard Gallant's group destroyed Sidney Crosby and the Penguins 6-0 before putting seven combined past Predators netminders Kevin Lankinen and Juuse Saros. Two players in particular shined against Nashville, with K'Andre Miller scoring twice and tallying a pair of assists, while Artemi Panarin also collected three points. The Russian is undoubtedly NY's best player, sitting at 23 goals and 57 assists on the season. In between the posts, Jaroslav Halak was forced to make just 22 saves in a rare start in place of Igor Shesterkin. Expect him to be back in net for this marquee matchup with the Canes.
Hurricanes vs Rangers Prediction
It's hard to look past the Rangers' recent winning ways and their superior play against the Canes in 2022-23. Add in New York playing at home and this looks like a solid pick.
