Below is our table on the St. Louis Blues and Seattle Kraken.
Okay, so let's begin with the St. Louis Blues.
2023 Stanley Cup Bets - St. Louis Blues
It seems a little crazy that St. Louis is even thought of among 2023 Stanley Cup Bets. However, the St. Louis Blues are not that far-fetched of a choice. They were believed to be dead on arrival after drawing the Minnesota Wild in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Then, St. Louis stormed back to win three straight games. After that, they gave the Colorado Avalanche their toughest test. The NHL Hockey Betting Odds seem to have fallen asleep on the St. Louis Blues.
The impact of Jordan Binnington cannot be overlooked. There were considerable bumps in the road in the playoffs but this goaltender kept St. Louis in the playoffs until Nazem Kadri injured him early in the second round. After the early Game 3 injury, St. Louis was not quite the same. They did fight to force the series to six games but Colorado finally vanquished the Blues to move on and eventually win the Stanley Cup.
St. Louis has fluctuated right around the +2000 to +3000 range mostly. Why so much spread? No matter who is coaching, this team is still nestled in that crazy Central Division with the defending champs in Colorado. With the divisional playoff format, St. Louis might again not draw Colorado if they can finish second or third. Most pundits are pegging them for fourth or fifth without the likes of David Perron. However, this team has youngsters like Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas who will only improve.
With an evolving top-six, the Blues should again be one of the top offenses at home and on the road. Combine that with a refocused and motivated Binnington in goal, St. Louis will be a force to be reckoned with. Binngton showed that in the playoffs last year (4-1-1, 1.72 goals against average, .949 save percentage). Now, only one team can win the Stanley Cup. The search for longer picks puts us on to the St. Louis Blues bandwagon.
What About The Seattle Kraken For 2023 Stanley Cup Picks?
2023 Stanley Cup Picks focuses next on the Seattle Kraken. Seattle presents many question marks but the one weird thing last year was this. The Kraken were very good at limiting shots and scoring chances. They were among the best five teams in the league. The problem became their goaltending which would just give up bad goal after bad goal. The hope is that Philipp Grubauer has solved his issues with a little extra off-season training. Also, Ron Francis got to work.
Francis went out and signed Andre Burakovsky to a five-year deal from the champion Colorado Avalanche. Then, he acquired Oliver Bjorkstand (a near 30-goal scorer) from Columbus for mid-round draft picks. The latter, in particular, was a genius move that helped not only solidify a Seattle top-six that needed scoring but may help defensively too. After all, the best defense sometimes is a good offense.
So, honestly, the Seattle Kraken are not expected to win the Stanley Cup in 2023. Yes, more things will have to break right for the Kraken just to make the playoffs. That may be a more intriguing wager. However, when worse teams like Anaheim, Philadelphia, Buffalo, and even Columbus have shorter odds, one just has to swing the hockey stick and go for it here. Seattle is a better team than they showed in year one. The expansion team should make strides in year number two.
With the numbers lengthening, the Kraken at least merit a couple dollar bet.
