New York Rangers | +1800 | +2000 |
Okay, so let's begin with the New York Rangers.
2023 Stanley Cup Bets - New York Rangers
It seems a little nuts that New York is even pondered as one of the potential finalists for the Stanley Cup. They were believed to be dead on arrival after falling down three games to one to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Then, New York stormed back to win three straight games. After that, they disposed of the Carolina Hurricanes in seven games before falling to Tampa Bay in six tough contests. The NHL Hockey Betting Odds seem to be sleeping a little on the New York Rangers.
The impact of Igor Shesterkin cannot be underestimated. There were considerable bumps in the road in the playoffs but when the Rangers needed a clutch effort, the Russian goaltender came up huge. Few goaltenders can carry a team like Shesterkin (can save 40+ goals above average which means almost 15-20 points in the standings) and arguably this is a New York team that got even better compared to last season. New York almost won the Metropolitan Division last year. That gets missed in the shuffle.
New York has hovered right around the +1600 to +2200 range mostly. Why? No matter who is coaching, this team is still in a stacked Eastern Conference with teams like Tampa Bay, Toronto, and others to consider. With the divisional playoff format, New York may have a slightly easier time this season with Pittsburgh and Washington expected to take a step back. There will still be Carolina but the Rangers added Vincent Trocheck and only figure to get better defensively.
With an improved top-six, the Rangers should be one of the more prolific offenses especially at home. Combine that with Vezina and arguably MVP goaltending from Shesterkin and New York is a threat to win the division (+300), Eastern Conference (+900), and beyond. Gerard Gallant is a coach that can get the most out of his squad. He showed that in the playoffs last year. Now, only one team can win the Stanley Cup. The search for bets puts us home on the New York Rangers.
What About The Tampa Bay Lightning?
2023 Stanley Cup Bets focuses next on the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tampa Bay presents a few question marks like what could happen with Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov. Then, there was the trade of Ryan McDonagh to the Nashville Predators. However, what was surprising is how Tampa Bay kept finding a way to advance until they ran into a more rested and deeper Colorado Avalanche team.
Andrei Vasilevskiy looked more human in the playoffs than the previous two years. Some of that may have been due to fatigue and some of that may have been the defense in front of him. Either way, the Russian goaltender has played a ton of hockey over the past three seasons. That includes many high-pressure situations. It is great that Vasilevskiy is so battle tested. However, the concern becomes will Tampa Bay break down a little further this coming season and/or playoffs?
So, Tampa Bay still has a team who has potential to win the Stanley Cup in 2023. Yes, more things will have to break right for the Lightning. Teams will not be as afraid to grapple with them now. That goes especially for a team like the New York Rangers who have a little Lightning in them. Even with Victor Hedman, Anthony Cirelli, and some nice depth, Tampa did lose Ondrej Palat to New Jersey and that is a significant loss.
With the numbers lengthening, the Lightning may eventually be worth a shot in 2023.
Stanley Cup Future Bets - So The Toronto Maple Leafs?
For Stanley Cup Future Bets, did we go too far with the Toronto Maple Leafs? Oh my. Yes the Maple Leafs are a very good regular season team. They have a shred of value at +1200 on BetOnline. However, Toronto seems to be a team that just does not quite have the offense when they need it most. Their odds may shorten due to the season but come the playoffs, they have to win a round first.
