2024 NFL Player Prop Bets And The Passing Yards
2024 NFL player prop bets and the passing yards start us off. So, player props tied to staying healthy can never be easy. A quarterback would likely have to start all 17 games to win this one. That increases the risk factor but that plus-number too. Right now, the favorite on the board is Tua Tagovailoa at +400 via Bovada. The problem with the Miami signal-caller is the schedule. When it comes to the AFC East, there are some traps. He does lead all passers after Week 1.
Just understand that sometimes it is okay to take a look elsewhere and shop. Now, Jared Goff did not have the greatest Week 1, but Detroit won in overtime. His 217 passing yards were 120 off from Tagovailoa. However, among Top 5 passers in the league, Goff has been consistent the past couple of seasons. With his schedule (at least 11 more dome games), the Detroit signal-caller holds a bit of an advantage being able to play inside even during some of the coldest weeks.
Again, Detroit's schedule is one of the better ones. The Lions play some tough teams but the NFC North is loading with teams that love to give up passing yards. Look at Green Bay last week against Philadelphia. Their defense was porous. A better quarterback probably makes a few throws that Jalen Hurts missed on. This is a cutthroat business and Goff figures to have at least 600 passing attempts this season. If Goff is around eight yards a passing attempt, that should be enough.
The position rank is on a solid trajectory and hopefully the yards again will be as well. Taking the fourth player on the board is our pick here.
Next There Are The Sack Leaders
2024 NFL player prop bets next feature sack leaders. One of the fun things to do is look at a few defensive categories now and then. Again, health is key here. After all, guess who leads the lead in sacks in three of the past four years? That would be T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The linebacker had 19 sacks in 17 games and did have one against Atlanta last week. Over the next 16 games, there should be a good deal of opportunities for the All-Pro.
Pundits have to be a little perplexed by the numbers though. Watt is not a more outright favorite here. There was that one season where he missed seven games to injury. Again, that is the risk with player props. It does not have to be a player's fault. One injury sinks the prop bet faster than a boat. The good news is that Pittsburgh will keep playing Watt since more than likely, they will be in a heated race for a playoff spot.
The question becomes can anyone dethrone the champ here. Micah Parsons has 41.5 sacks in his first three full seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. BetOnline is offering +550 (for now) on the stud linebacker. The three-time Pro Bowler has won the Rookie Defensive Player Of The Year and Defensive Player Of The Year.
Alas, teams do tend to get behind a lot versus one of the better scoring offenses in the league. Dallas has led the league two of the previous three seasons. The only concern is that Watt just finds a few more avenues to a quarterback. Also, Parsons could always be rested come the final week. Watt is our choice here.
2024 NFL Player Prop Bets And Receiving Yards
Okay, what about 2024 NFL player prop bets and the receiving yards? Wide receivers and yardage is also very fickle. Do you want a great 1-2 punch or an individual talent that can keep on taking all the targets? It is hard to get both. However, the Puka Nacua injury (potentially torn ligament) means he will miss at least four games.
On the bright side, that means way more targets for Cooper Kupp. Three years ago, Kupp was everything for the Los Angeles Rams. He nearly got to the 2,000 yard mark in receiving. Injuries and Nacua slowed his production the past two years but hope springs eternal. Matthew Stafford loves to throw a lot. If Week 1 is any indication (Kupp got 21 targets), the receiver will keep seeing the ball a lot.
There is still this long shot mentality here but at the least, taking a tiny bet on Kupp to lead the league here is reasonable at +2000.
