Will Any Player Score At Least Two Touchdowns in Super Bowl 58?

Multi-touchdown performances are iconic when they take place in the Super Bowl. Will we be treated to one this year? The latest Super Bowl 58 betting odds sure think so:

  • Yes (-135)
  • No (+135)

It should be noted that touchdown passes from Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers do not count towards this tally. These Super Bowl 58 betting lines refer exclusively to rushing and catching touchdowns.

To that end, we are siding with the odds-on favorite line. The Niners offense is incredibly reliant on Christian McCaffrey, who has three touchdowns in just two games. And while the Chiefs have yet to have a multi-TD performance this postseason, Mahomes continues to lean on Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice in high volume. Either of them could easily walk away with two or more scores.

OSB Prediction: Yes, at least one player will have multiple touchdowns (-135)

Will Any Player Have At Least THREE Touchdowns During Super Bowl XLIII?

Now this is interesting. And yet, if you take the prop betting lines for Super Bowl 58 seriously, perhaps not:

  • Yes (+500)
  • No (-1000)

Scoring three touchdowns in the Super Bowl is an incredibly rare feat. According to StatMuse, it has happened just seven times. Ironically, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles was the most recent player to do it in Super Bowl 57. Before him, though, the NFL hadn’t seen a three-TD outing since James White of the New England Patriots in 20217. And prior to him, it hadn’t been done since Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos did it in 1998.

Even with McCaffrey being a three-TD threat, we can’t imagine the Super Bowl getting a hat trick in consecutive seasons. Going with “no” may only pay out -1000, but it feels like free money.

OSB Prediction: No, there won’t be anyone with at least three touchdowns (-1000)

Which Team Will Throw The First Touchdown Pass In Super Bowl 58?

You might think the Chiefs are favored to throw the first touchdown pass in Super Bowl 58, because they have Patrick Mahomes. And, well, you’re right:

  • Chiefs (-125)
  • 49ers (+100)

San Francisco would whet our whistle if they were paying out more than +100. But Brock Purdy’s completion rate is hovering in the low 60s during the postseason. The Niners have also seemed wildly inconsistent at moving the ball in the playoffs.

Not surprisingly, we have to stick with what the market is saying. Mahomes is a far more bankable option here.

How Many Chiefs Players Will Score A Touchdown Against The 49ers?

With fewer weapons than usual around him, Mahomes isn’t spreading the ball around as much as he typically does. And that’s reflected in the over/under on the number of Chiefs players to get a touchdown in Super Bowl 58:

  • Over 2.5 (+175)
  • Under 2.5 (-240)

Granted, these Super Bowl 58 online prop betting odds say just as much about the Niners defense. Will the Chiefs even score three touchdowns? We think they will. The Niners have let up at least 21 points in three consecutive games.

What’s more, we find ourselves inclined to take a risk. Mahomes is giving a ton of volume to Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice, but Kansas City will also look to establish Isiah Pacheco when they get in the red zone. On top of that, we can’t rule out a Mahomes rushing TD if the Chiefs are far enough inside the 20. We’re going to roll the dice on a higher payout here.

OSB Prediction: Over 2.5 Chiefs players will score a touchdown in Super Bowl 58 (+175)

How Many 49ers Players Will Score A Touchdown Against The Chiefs?

Believe it or not, the 49ers betting odds for this Super Bowl 58 prop bet are identical to the Chiefs’ own betting lines:

  • Over 2.5 (+175)
  • Under 2.5 (-240)

We find ourselves going in the opposite direction for this one. San Francisco runs a McCaffrey-centric offense. Wideout Deebo Samuel is always a threat to score, as well. But the Chiefs are better than anyone in the NFL at limiting big plays through the air. Samuel and the rest of the Niners’ receiving core will find it difficult to grab a pass in the end zone. We’d bet on two 49ers players scoring a touchdown. But that’s it.

OSB Prediction: Under 2.5 49ers players will score a touchdown in Super Bowl 58 (-240)
