Lions vs Vikings Bets Carry Some Options
Lions vs Vikings bets carry some options. NFL fans and bettors circled this tilt on the calendar probably a couple of weeks ago. Minnesota got off to an excellent start while Detroit bounced back after an odd home loss to Tampa Bay. It was peculiar because the Lions did everything but score. They lost 20-16 and did kind of sputter the first three weeks. Even though Detroit was 2-1, something felt not quite right.
Then, Detroit played Seattle and things came together. Detroit enjoys playing downhill football. Now, this means points are going to happen on both sides. However, this increases their chances to hawk turnovers. Early on, the Lions missed a lot of those prime opportunities. Last week against Dallas presented a far different story as the Lions forced five turnovers in a 47-9 rout which served notice to the rest of the NFC.
People sometimes forget that Detroit went on a deep playoff run last year as much as the Minnesota 5-0 start. The Vikings have not been always pretty but they are winning. Unfortunately, even with Justin Jefferson, how long can Sam Darnold keep playing with fire? The same can be said for Minnesota. The NFC North at one point was 17-4-1 ATS. Obviously, that will change after Week 7.
The rationale here is that Detroit comes in with better form and their offense on fire. Does Minnesota have the firepower to play more than one half of offense? Take the Lions here on the Moneyline this Sunday on the road.
Does One Go Over Or Under?
Next, Lions vs Vikings bets wonder does one go Over or Under? The game will be played outdoors and the weather on Sunday will be amazing. Yes, the early forecast expects to feature a good deal of sun and temperatures well into the 70's. It is late October and Minnesota, right? Well, this is no exaggeration. There will be several areas where the unseasonably warm weather will take effect. No cold wind will hamper the passing or kicking games here.
This NFC North battle opened around 49 to 49.5 on most online betting sites. Since then, there has been some early movement. Keep in mind, the market rarely is truly set. Inevitably, the numbers are going to move again and maybe several times at that. We saw this with the Jets and Bills. In the end, both teams scored 20 points. Amazingly, 37 of those came in the first half when the wind was probably stronger. The second half produced a mere pair of field goals.
The game total stands at 50 at press time. That is not a bad number for two teams who have diverse offenses. Can Detroit take advantage of Minnesota's secondary and pass coverage? Most teams have not this season. The exception was Green Bay but some of that can be attributed to score effects.
Mistakes and miscues when Minnesota plays are par for the course. Minnesota has turned the ball over multiple times in four of their five games. Coming off a bye week could add to the turnover count and point count on Sunday. Take that Over at 50.5 points.
Props Starting To Appear
Lions vs Vikings bets expects some props starting to appear. Typically anywhere from Tuesday night to Thursday is when most props appear on betting boards. Sometimes there are early choices but the mid-week period is when the books often put out their numbers. Primarily, the first drive and first to score props come out initially. Then, the props tend to start to snowball. Game props, team props, player props, and more are there all for bettors.
Some of the more fun options include those first drives and all those turnover and defensive props. For now, some first drive potential has caught our attention. Again, these are options where wagering is no more than a few dollars. Keeping bets as small as possible is wise here. The first drive to get in the red zone is plus money for both teams at +110. With the warmer weather, a 20+ yard passing play is also more likely early on to set the tone.
Minnesota and Justin Jefferson could break one here early. We will take an early play on that 20+ yard Minnesota passing play at a tidy +210.
