OSB Carolina To Hang Tight With Philadelphia Sunday

The previews come rumbling in for Week 14 of the National Football League. Now, we take a look at the high-flying Philadelphia Eagles fresh off a huge win in Baltimore. They go up against the Carolina Panthers who have looked much better in recent weeks. Granted, the Panthers seem destined for another Top 5 Draft Pick but things seem to be looking up. Anyway, with some milder conditions in the forecast, the Panthers vs Eagles bets preview a matchup that could feature a few more points.

  • What? NFL 2024/2025 Week Fourteen - Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
  • Where? Lincoln Financial Field - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • When? Sunday December 8th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX

Week 14 does feature some marquis games but this one is still important for both teams. As for those teams not playing, it is Indianapolis, New England, Baltimore, Washington, Houston, and Denver not in action. This league produces some crazy results and last week was no exception. Do not sleep on this tilt.

Panthers vs Eagles Bets Feel Oddly Different

Panthers vs Eagles bets feel oddly different. Philadelphia keeps on winning games. The Eagles have won eight straight contests after winning on the road in Baltimore on Sunday evening. Saquon Barkley topped the 100-yard mark and the Eagles' defense slowed down Baltimore enough in a 24-19 triumph. Barkley is now up to almost 1,500 yards on the season and has a realistic chance to break 2,000 yards.

The Eagles' defense has been one of the top units in the league since about Week 6. Holding Baltimore to 19 points (7 came in the final seconds) was a feat. Philadelphia only gained 252 yards offensively, held Baltimore to 372 and found a way to win when it counted. Yes, Justin Tucker missed one field goal and two extra points which was another difference maker. Then again, Philadelphia might have played the final seconds a little different if they were only up seven points.

Then there is the Carolina Panthers. Carolina benched Bryce Young early in the season. Then, Andy Dalton was not really the answer either. Dalton got hurt and Young still struggled a bit. Then, rock bottom came in Denver. Carolina's offense made some adjustments and the defense tried to tweak a few things. Since then, Carolina is 2-2 but has been competitive in every game. The same could not be said in their 1-7 start.

Carolina knows they cannot slow down the Philadelphia rushing attack too much. They are going to need to cause turnovers to stay in this game. Does Philadelphia finally have a bit of a letdown on Sunday? There may be enough of one for Carolina to cover at least. A 11.5-point spread is more risky but could pay dividends.

Trending To The Over

Now, Panthers vs Eagles bets remain poised to be trending to the over on Sunday. Again, this game could be quite entertaining. Carolina can run the ball pretty well and Bryce Young is reading defenses better than ever before. If there is one fatal weakness in the Eagles, it is this. Philadelphia plays down to their opposition every so often. Last week, they were bailed out by a big second quarter. The first quarter saw them almost get blown out of the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Giving teams extra life is flirting with disaster. Eventually that will burn even an elite one. Again, the 46.5-point game total is not bad here. With milder conditions invading the Southeast part of Pennsylvania, 50 degrees might feel like 70. Wind figures not to be much of an issue and right now, rain is not in the forecast.

Also, Philadelphia may get caught looking ahead. The Eagles have a clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers, then go to Washington. With the final two games being playoff dress rehearsals, those may not make a difference. Again, if there was a week for a bit of a letdown, this would be it. Philadelphia has gone three straight games without a turnover. That feels like a streak which could end on Sunday too. If Carolina played the Eagles earlier in the season, this would be a blowout. It still could be but the offenses will be the main course.

Numbers staying around where they are makes a 30-20 score the most likely possibility which puts us in the green for Sunday afternoon.

Talk Some Fun Picks

Alright, the Panthers vs Eagles bets talk some fun picks. Besides the winning margin, could there be some interest in who leads after the first quarter. The 3-way betting there could be intriguing. Could Carolina sneak out of the quarter with a lead? Yes. Could they be shutout in the first 15 minutes? That is a possibility too. One can determine odds or evens when it comes to team points and not just total score for halves and quarters.

A special thanks goes out to Bovada Online Sportsbook for adding these choices so early. An Eagles opening 15 shutout at +130 is interesting. A Carolina three-way first quarter win is +300 though.

For a dollar or two, it might be worth to take Carolina to lead early after one quarter on Sunday afternoon.
