Can the Baltimore Ravens snag a huge road victory in Week 6?

Do the Baltimore Ravens have what it takes to end one of the biggest surprises through the early portion of the 2022 NFL season? We'll find out when they travel to face the New York Giants in Week 6.

Oddsmakers don't seem to have a concern in the world entering the Giants vs. Ravens matchup on Sunday, October 16, at 1 p.m. EST. On the contrary, most of the best sites for online NFL betting heavily favor Baltimore in this showdown.

This surety feels almost insulting to New York. They will be at home. They are 4-1. They have beaten the Green Bay Packers. Do they really have that much more to prove? Are they lucky? Or are Lamar Jackson and the Ravens simply that good? We're here to figure that out. But first, here are the latest NFL online betting odds for Giants vs. Ravens entering Week 6, courtesy of BetOnline:

Make a habit of double-checking these NFL betting odds until you actually submit your wager. The NFL Week 6 betting lines we use are accurate entering Tuesday, October 11. That gives oddsmakers plenty of time to adjust their numbers based upon how much action either team receives on the open market.

Finally, in addition to predicting the winner of the New York Giants vs. Baltimore Ravens, we will also be tackling the moneyline and point spread. So, let's get to it.

This Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Giants Showdown Will Be Closer Than Most Think

Though they were considered a fringe Super Bowl contender ahead of the regular season, the Baltimore Ravens enter Week 6 at 3-2, having yet to win consecutive games. In particular, their defense has been disappointing. They let up 42 points in a loss to the Miami Dolphins during Week 2 and allowed an inexperienced New England Patriots squad to drop 26 points in Week 6.

Baltimore has settled down in recent weeks. They gave up just 23 points to the red hot Buffalo Bills in Week 4 (but lost), and they are coming off a Week 5 win in which they limited the Cincinnati Bengals to 17 points. Still, entering their matchup with the Giants, the Ravens rank in the bottom 10 of net yards per attempt allowed on both passing and rushing plays. That is a pretty big red flag, even this early.

On the bright side, with Daniel Jones under center, the Giants might have the worst passing attack in football. But the Ravens must still grapple with superstar running back Saquon Barkley, who has so far been a one-man wrecking ball.

We also urge you not to discount the Giants' defense. No opponent has scored more than 23 points against New York this season. Part of that is a fairly generous schedule. But the Giants still limited the Packers to 22 points in a Week 5 win, and they so far rank inside the top five of net yards allowed per attempt on both passing and rushing plays. That doesn't happen by accident.

In the end, we trust the Ravens more. They have faced the harder schedule, and thanks to QB Lamar Jackson, their talent is more proven. We don't love Baltimore's payout, but we also don't see a clear path to victory for the Giants.

Consider Betting on New York to Cover the Point Spread in Week 6 vs. Baltimore

Here are the latest point spread betting odds for New York Giants vs. Baltimore Ravens in Week 6:

  • Baltimore Ravens, -5.5 (-110)
  • New York Giants, +5.5 (-110)

We cannot bet on the Ravens' spread in good conscience. They might be the better team on paper, but they only just beat the Bengals by two points, and the Giants defense has turned all of their games into a slow crawl this year.

What's more, all of the Giants' games this season have been decided by an average of fewer than five points. We're not just talking wins or losses, either. We're talking both. Their largest point differential came in Week 4, when they beat the Chicago Bears by eight points.

This is all to say: Sunday's game between the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants has the makings of a nail-biter.

Predicting the Over/Under for Giants vs. Ravens is Tough, But Not Impossible

Below you can see the NFL over/under betting odds for Giants vs. Ravens on Sunday:

  • Over 43.5 (-110)
  • Under 43.5 (-110)

We pulled our hair out trying to come up with a decision. Predicting 43 or fewer combined points feels so low. The Ravens are only averaging 23.4 points per game, but that number has shot up to 30.5 on the road.

On the flip side, we believe oddsmakers are overstating the struggles of the Giants offense. They may have one of the five worst starting QBs in the league, but their situation overall isn't that dire. New York ranks 19th in points per game and is fourth in net yards per rushing attempt.

Oddsmakers haven't caught up to the Giants offense being closer to mediocre than hopeless. Four of New York's five games have hit the over. We're going to play those odds instead.

OSB Prediction: Over 43.5 points (-110)
