The odds are quite similar here. Washington is a slim -137 moneyline favorite while the Ducks sit at +117. The Huskies are also laying three points on the spread. The total in points is set at 67. This rivalry has been happening since 1900. Oregon had won three straight against Washington before losing in 2022.

Oregon is Rolling

The Ducks are looking like a legitimate title contender in 2023 behind Bo Nix. The quarterback decided to come back to Eugene for one more season and boy, that decision is paying off. He's completed a ridiculous 80.4% of his passes for 15 touchdowns and just one interception to go along with 1,458 yards. Nix has also ran for 4.6 yards per carry on the ground but it's a small sample size.

So far, no team has come remotely close to the Ducks. They've completely dominated every single opponent, averaging a whopping 51.6 points per game. That's second in the country. In fact, Oregon is top-five in several offensive categories. The running back room has ridiculously efficient numbers, with all three RBs averaging over seven yards per carry. That will surely be a recipe for success on Saturday.

In the win over Stanford, Nix absolutely balled out, throwing for four touchdowns in total. He was also 27 for 32 for 290 yards, barely missing a pass. RB Jordan James torched the Cardinal defense with 14.7 yards per carry including a 37-yard run. The Ducks frankly just overmatched Stanford but will be up against a much more difficult test on Saturday. Although Washington's defense isn't elite, it's a lot better than Oregon's Week 6 opponent. That being said, Dan Lanning's squad has the weapons to make them pay. We'll see if that happens.

Penix Jr is Legit

If you follow college football, you've probably heard about that Washington quarterback who is the Heisman favorite at the moment. Michael Penix Jr is absolutely lighting up the nation with some truly crazy numbers. He's completed 74.7% of his passes for 1,999 yards, 16 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. Penix Jr isn't much of a runner, but his arm makes up for it. No one has been able to contain him, but this Oregon defense is good. This will be his tallest task yet.

Penix Jr has the Huskies offense thriving, though. They're first in the country with 571.6 yards per contest and first in passing yards with 446.4. Rome Odunze and Ja'Lynn Polk are the two best wideouts for this team, both reeling in four touchdowns apiece and over 25 receptions each as well. There's a really well-rounded receiver group at Penix Jr's disposal.

Washington has run through basically every opponent to this point except for last week. Arizona, who aren't exactly a great team, gave the Huskies a legitimate run for their money. That definitely had to do with the fact that Penix Jr didn't throw for a single touchdown although he did complete 30 of 40 passes. Running back Dillon Johnson was solid though, running the ball into the endzone twice and racking up 91 yards rushing in total.

The Huskies are also considered a national championship team and to many, the best program in the Pac-12. Saturday presents an opportunity to prove they're superior to Oregon. Considering they rolled into Eugene last year and beat the Ducks, Penix Jr and Co. will be feeling confident of making it two wins in a row since this one is on home turf at Husky Stadium.

Oregon vs Washington Picks

This is a very difficult one to pick. That being said, defense is typically the difference-maker and Oregon has the better one. Expect both teams to score points in bunches, but the Ducks will prevail in Seattle.
