Oregon vs Washington State Preview

Oregon is actually a longshot in the 2022-23 NCAA Football National Championship futures. But, they certainly made a statement in Week 3. That win over BYU helped them jump ten spots in the CFB rankings and should give them no shortage of confidence heading into Saturday. After a 48-3 loss in the season opener against the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs, the Ducks have bounced back. Beating FCS school Eastern Washington isn't exactly something to brag about but more importantly, quarterback Bo Nix has been finding a rhythm. Since the loss to UGA, he's thrown for 10 touchdowns and committed no turnovers in the last two outings. In Week 3, Nix completed 13 of 18 passes for 222 yards, linking up with tight end Terrance Ferguson twice in the end zone. Nix also rushed for three touchdowns on his own in what was indeed a dominant performance.

Running back Noah Whittington did his own damage on the ground too, rushing for 66 yards on 13 carries, having his way with the Cougars run defense. The Oregon defense has clearly woken up following the embarrassing blowout against Georgia and they'll be looking to shut down Washington State quarterback Cameron Ward, who is playing well early on. The Ducks' recent success in this matchup is definitely positive, and they've covered the spread in two consecutive meetings. That bodes well for their chances in the Oregon vs Washington State prediction.

Washington State is riding a high right now. Out of all three victories, the one that stands out the most is over a very good Wisconsin program, marching into Madison and stunning the Badgers by a score of 17-14. With the always hostile environment in Pullman, the Cougars will have all the belief the fourth win in four can happen this Saturday. The most promising piece of this team thus far is the defense, which is the best in the Pac-12. They're allowing just 12.7 points per game 90.7 rushing yards. Linebacker Daiyan Henley is a big reason for that and he had an absolute field day last time out vs. Colorado State, registering three sacks, 13 tackles, and two forced fumbles. Offensively, head coach Jake Dickert has a special signal-caller leading his offense. Ward, who transferred from Incarnate Word, threw for over 4,000 yards and 47 touchdowns as a sophomore. He's picked up right where he left off at his last school, throwing for 727 yards and seven TDs in a Cougars uniform. His favorite target out wide is Donovan Ollie, who leads Washington State in all receiving categories. Also, Ward has RB Nakia Watson already balling out early on and he was the focal point of their win over Wisconsin, his former school. Watson scored both touchdowns with impressive runs into the end zone. On both sides of the ball, the Cougars are solid. After a rocking start, they could definitely pull out another win here in the Oregon vs Washington State prediction.

Oregon vs Washington State Final Pick

This is actually a tough pick. Although Oregon got ran off the field by Georgia, they've improved each and every week since. Washington State is no pushover by any means, but I believe Bo Nix will continue to dominate and be the main man as the Ducks grab a key Pac-12 victory on the road. Take them to cover.
