Saturday, October 8th is a chance for the Alabama Crimson Tide to get revenge from their 41-38 loss to Texas A&M last season as the two teams meet once again in Tuscaloosa, one of the standout matchups in Week 6 of Online college football betting. There is even more anticipation for this game due to the beef between Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban in the offseason, who exchanged words on numerous occasions over their respective recruiting classes. Texas A&M vs Alabama Odds
Before Texas A&M beat them last year, Bama had won eight in a row against their SEC foes dating back to 2013. The over has been hit in all but one of their last nine meetings, too. The Tide is a heavy 24-point favorite on Saturday.
Texas A&M vs Alabama Betting Preview
The Aggies haven't looked great by any means and last weekend's 42-24 loss to Mississippi State was their largest defeat since 2020. Turnovers were a serious problem for Fisher's group, committing four of them versus the Bulldogs, one of which was returned for a pick-six. The defense allowed far too many points and will need to clean it up on Saturday if they're going to have any chance of pulling off an upset here. Quarterback Max Johnson completed 19 of 26 passes for 203 yards in Week 5 for a touchdown, but he ended up hurting his hand. The signal-caller is currently listed as day-to-day and if he's not able to suit up, Haynes King will start. Johnson is definitely the more reliable one though as King has already been picked off four times. On a more positive note, the wins over Miami and Arkansas were fundamentally sound games for A&M, limiting the errors and staying strong defensively. That's exactly what the Aggies need to do in the Texas A&M vs Alabama prediction.
The Crimson Tide is the cream of the crop early on, even sitting at the top of the pack in the 2022-23 NCAA Football National Championship futures. But there's a chance reigning Heisman winner Bryce Young doesn't play on Saturday. The quarterback injured his shoulder last weekend against Arkansas, exiting in the second quarter in frustration. He's listed as day-to-day but if he's not able to go, Jalen Milroe would be the main man for Saban. He actually played well versus the Razorbacks, completing 4 of 9 passes for 65 yards as Bama cruised to a 49-26 victory. This team has the utmost confidence in Milroe and with so many offensive weapons both out wide and in the backfield, there isn't much concern. The Tide currently rank fourth in points per game with 48.4 and eighth in the nation in total yards with 531 per game. Jahmyr Gibbs and Jase McClellan are one of the best RB duos in the country, while Traeshon Holden in particular is an absolute star at wide receiver. If Young is indeed out, the offense should definitely focus in on the run game but also let Milroe have some chances to make plays downfield, especially to Holden. Their defense is absolutely phenomenal and should be able to completely shut down an A&M attack that is statistically one of the worst in the SEC.
Betting Trends
- Alabama is 4-1 ATS in their last five games
- Texas A&M is just 2-4 ATS in their last six appearances
- The total has gone under in four of the Aggies' previous five contests
Final Pick
I really don't see any way Texas A&M comes even close here. Whether Young played or not, there is enough playmakers throughout the Bama offense to put on an absolute clinic in front of their home fans in Tuscaloosa. Take the Tide to cover the spread in the Texas A&M vs Alabama prediction.
