The road to the NASCAR Cup heads to a road course this week - Watkins Glen International for Go Bowling At The Glen. And for the most part, it's the usual suspects who oddsmakers like to be up front and in contention for the victory.

Kyle Larson is the +575 betting choice to win the race. Also showing short odds are defending Go Bowling At The Glen champion William Byron (+650), Chase Elliott (+800), like Larson a two-time winner of this race and Tyler Reddick (+950).

The one outlier slipping into this group of contenders is road-course specialist Shane Van Gisbergen (+750). A regular on NASCAR's Xfinity circuit, the New Zealand driver has plenty of experience when it comes to road racing.

NASCAR Watkins Glen International Top Contenders

The drivers will cover 90 laps over the 11-turn, 2.45-mile (3.94 km) NASCAR Watkins Glen International road course. Road course racing often brings out surprises in the finishes. That's why drivers who wouldn't normally be among the NASCAR best bets are displaying short odds due to their road-racing experience. You can access +1200 betting lines on AJ Allmendinger and Michael McDowell, for example. On the other hand, NASCAR Cup series points leader Ryan Blaney is at odds of +3300.

Kyle Larson (+575)

The NASCAR playoffs didn't start out well for Larson. He hit the wall and wrecked at Atlanta.

This is a great track for him to bounce back strongly, though. Larson held off Allmendinger and Logano to win Go Bowling At The Glen in 2022. The previous year, he won the race ahead of Elliott and Truex.

William Byron (+650)

The Hendrick Motorsports driver was dominant in winning at Watkins Glen International last year. Byron won the second and third stages. He was finishing second behind McDowell in the first stage. Overall, Byron led 66 of 90 laps.

Through five career Cup Series starts in this race, Byron has finished among the top 10 three times.

Shane Van Gisbergen (+750)

Weaned on Supercars and a veteran of some of the world's most famous road-course races, it's easy to see why New Zealand's Van Gisbergen is so highly thought of as a contender to roll in Go Bowling At The Glen.

Last year, he won the Cup Series road circuit race in Chicago. Van Gisbergen was 10th at The Brickyard. This season, road-course racing hasn't proven to be a road to success for the Kiwi driver. Van Gisbergen finished 40th in Chicago and 20th on the Circuit Of The Americas.

Tyler Reddick (+950)

While he's never won a NASCAR Watkins Glen International race, Reddick is always in the hunt on this course.

-175

He's run in Go Bowling At The Glen three times on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit. He's never finished better than seventh, but has never run worse than 10th. Reddick might not be an ideal win bet, but looks like a solid lock for a top-10 finish prop wager.

Chase Elliott (+800)

Having won twice at Watkins Glen, it's unwise to completely discount Elliott's chances here.

Since his back-to-back wins in 2018-19, Elliott has also run second and fourth at Go Bowling At the Glen. Last year, however, he'd finish 32nd.

Daniel Suarez (+2500)

If you're looking for a longshot pick in the NASCAR odds, Suarez will fill that bill nicely.

He's recorded three top-five finishes in NASCAR Watkins Glen races. Suarez also won a NASCAR road course race at Sonoma.

Best NASCAR Watkins Glen International Prop Bets

Chevrolet has proven dominant in the NASCAR Cup Series at Watkins Glen International. Chevys have driven to victory five years in a row in Go Bowling At The Glen.

Narrowing it down even further, Hendrick Motorsports drivers are the winners of each of those five races. In total, Hendrick driver have won a record 11 NASCAR Cup Series races at Watkins Glen International.

Looking at that Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports dominance in Go Bowling At The Glen, it's difficult not to envision one of their drivers to be rolling down Victory Lane at the conclusion of this year's race.

Larson desperately needs to rebound from last week's mishap at Atlanta. Maybe it's cliche to pick the favorite in the odds, but in this instance, it also makes perfect sense.
