MotoGP2 Title/GP Bets - What Happened In Austria?
There is a reason why betting sinks its teeth into wagerers. Who are we kidding? Sometimes, racers get on a roll. Despite qualifying going well, the race featured yet another Spanish Conquest. Therefore, MotoGP2 Title/GP Bets tries to figure out what happened in Austria. Could that have any impact at all when it comes to the rest of the season? On the surface, it already has and that reflects in the odds.
So, the top three points leaders separated a little bit. Augusto Fernandez ultimately took control and pulled away to win his third race in the last three appearances. Fernandez went from under 100 points and out of things to 171 points and the top spot in the title standings.
- Augusto Fernandez - 171
- Ai Ogura - 158
- Celestino Vietti - 156
The Fernandez win placed him 13 points ahead of Ogura and 15 points beyond the Italian racer Vietti. Talk about creating the potential of a machine that may roll over the 2022 season.
MotoGP2 Title/GP Bets - Was The Opportunity Missed?
Augusto Fernandez was a +200 pick to win in Britain, and he delivered again. Why? Fernandez was rolling and carrying speed. He took the outright points lead and separated himself a bit from Vietti and Ogura. The question is this. Was the opportunity missed for the Title/GP bets? Okay, maybe more the title.
The race from Austria featured testing that was kind to Fernandez. That is good news for our Austria Pick in that maybe Fernandez has more than a credible chance to go 4-for-4.
The Spaniard Wants To Keep Gaining Points
This will be an interesting stretch. MotoGP2 Title/GP bets lasers in on Augusto Fernandez as the Spaniard wants to keep gaining points in order to win the 2022 championship. Can he keep the momentum rolling as Austria beckons for the riders.
From there, the schedule stays in Europe for a few more races before heading overseas by the first week of October. Can Fernandez give himself enough of a cushion? That looks more likely. Austria II, Britain, and especially Spain are where the Ajo Motorsport racer has truly excelled with some near-record runs.
The Italy and Iberian final part of the tour may be more of a formality if Augusto Fernandez (surprisingly +225 for Austria II) keeps riding like this. He has gained 39 points on Ai Ogura and a whopping 84 on Celestino Vietti. That is partly why our pick for Spielberg II (Austria II) is again the Spaniard.
Ai Ogura Or Can Celestino Vietti Bounce Back?
One of the big stories in 2022 so far is Ai Ogura (+500 for the title). Now, add that with the early surge, then collapse from a certain Italian, and one gets some extra spice to the 2022 Title Race and even the Austria II race. So, Ai Ogura or can Celestino Vietti bounce back? Who does one choose?
Now, what about the rest of the season? If anyone could get hot like Fernandez, it would be Vietti. The Italian possesses the ability to win and even string together results. Unfortunately, the problem lies in this cold reality. Since four podiums in the first five races, Vietti has a mere win and two DNFs in his previous seven races.
Then, there is Ogura. The Japanese rider still has not finished worse than eighth in 2022. However, since Spain, he does have a win and two more podiums in his last seven results. That is a big plus. Ogura did race well in Spain and in the US especially. Even at the season-ending Iberian events, the Honda Team Asia rider could still have a chance.
Vietti scares me over the remainder of this season. Ogura (+350 odds for Austria II) is a bit more stable and was faster during Austria I. The slightly longer odds do not hurt either, as Ogura is a reasonable MotoGP2 Title/GP bet here.
What About A Long Shot Or Two
So, what about a long shot or two for the road? Now, could American Joe Roberts (+20000) get hot at the right time? It is possible. Even Jake Roberts (two podiums in a row) at +10000 might be worth a look.
Our MotoGP2 Pick
