2024 Moto3 Futures Picks - The Youth Shall Rise

The 2024 Moto3 Futures Picks tell us the youth shall rise. After all, the third level often tells us the future of MotoGP. Eventually, quite a few of these riders will make up the MotoGP landscape in several years time or sooner. See Pedro Acosta as a prime example of a rider who simply mushroomed into a top role and has not looked back. Anyway, this is where we introduce David Alonso into your memory banks.

The rookie burst onto the scene last year and won four races in 2023. It was known then that Alonso would be one of the favorites to win the 2024 Moto3 World Title. Little did we know how fast the talent would put it together. Look at how an Acosta dominated in Moto2 last year and this season has the makings for Alonso in Moto3. Sure, there are still 13 races to go but the dominance is uncanny. The way the 18-year-old Spaniard rides is like a man way beyond his years.

Wagering on Moto3 looked to be kind of fun and challenging and then Alonso took it up another notch. Now, it feels like the contenders are racing for second place. While anything can happen, remember there are no Sprint points to be concerned about in Moto2 or Moto3. Riders need only to worry about what happens on race day.

So, now we take a look at the new wave and see what wrinkles we can find in the wagering. Here we go!

David Alonso Is On Some Bender Right Now

Okay, David Alonso is on some bender right now. The Spaniard has won five of seven races including three straight events. The 2024 Moto3 Futures Picks stand now at -550 on Bovada. Could that number shorten even more? It remains an excellent question. Now, the best we could find was -500 at BetOnline. That is the kind of season Alonso is having.

Alonso now has 143 points on the season. He is at 37 points ahead of Daniel Holgado and 48 beyond Collin Veijer. Spaniards occupy four of the top five spots. The scary part is only three riders are within 50 points this early in the season. Looking at testing revealed a few more dire twists for the other contenders. Alonso's Aspar Team bike is so much faster right now. We are talking potentially several tenths of a second per lap or more.

If Alonso can keep on rolling and win anywhere close to this rate, this is his race to lose. Simply, he is the only driver in the class that has the ability to open then slam the door shut. Yes, it is amazing to see young riders look so polished. Some pundits forget his first Moto3 race came when he was 15. He honed his skills, perfected technique, and now in his second full year he runs the class. Last year was the beginning of something special. This is pure domination.

The only hope is that maybe his number comes back to Earth a little. However, it may not.

2024 Moto3 Futures Picks With Holgado and Veijer

2024 Moto3 Futures Picks with Holgado and Veijer. The reality, as we mentioned above, is no other riders are within 60 points of Alonso at this point. These two are it. Let that sink in. Sure, there is almost two thirds of the season to go. However, pundits know Alonso got hot late last season. Those tracks hold a clear advantage for him. Holgado and Veijer need to make their moves and now.

Holgado stands second with 106 points. Things started well with four podiums in five races including a win in Portugal. On the other hand, the pressure has gotten to the 19-year-old as he has accumulated a mere 12 points in the last two events. Furthermore, practice and qualifying are seeing Holgado lose time to Alonso and even Veijer at times. This is partly why Veijer is starting to reel in Holgado when it comes to the numbers.

Honestly, if Veijer had not DNF'd at COTA (Austin), he would be in second place right now. He represents the best chance to catch Alonso if he should fall enough. That Husqvarna carries some late speed in races. Is it enough over the course of the rest of the season? That remains unknown.
