The New York Yankees resume hostilities with the Boston Red Sox this weekend, and after not having it all their way in the four matches at Fenway Park, the Yankees will be looking for a better return when they play three more fixtures against the Red Sox at the Yankees Stadium this weekend.
After winning the first two fixtures of the four-match series at Fenway Park, New York looked set to crush the Red Sox and walk away with four from four. The Red Sox had other ideas though and fought back to win the third match 6-5, then on Sunday handed out an 11-6 thrashing to turn the tables on the AL East leaders.

It was a remarkable fightback by the Red Sox, especially given the direction the opening two matches went. The defeats of 6-5 and 12-5 left the Yankees riding high, so to come back and split the four-match series was a great achievement.
The task at hand doesnât get any easier though. Once Boston has finished their series with the Tampa Bay Rays, they head to New York to face the -5000 favorites to win the AL East in a three-match series.
Given New York have a 34-9 (at the time of writing) record at home, getting much, if anything will be a tall order for the 2018 World Series champions.
Who is the Betting Favorite for the 2022 World Series?
The New York Yankees are the current +350 betting favorites to win the 2022 World Series. The Yankees took over from the LA Dodgers who started the 2022 season as favorites after a disappointing 2021.

Following on from the Dodgers, the now +450 second favorites, is the Houston Astros, who are now into +600. Last yearâs beaten finalists in the World Series are dominating the AL West and at the time of writing are on an 8-2 run.
In the latest MLB World Series odds, the Red Sox are +2500 to win outright and repeat their success of 2018.

Latest 'To Make Playoffs' Betting
Itâs still a touch-and-go for the Red Sox in the betting to make the playoffs.
Alex Coraâs side are -280 to make the postseason, and they are +220 to see their 2022 campaign finish at the end of the regular seasonâŚâŚ again!
As for the Yankees, there are no viable bets available on them making the postseason.
When Do The Yankees Host the Red Sox?
The three-match mini-series gets underway at the Yankees Stadium on Friday night, with the second match taking place on Saturday night and the third and final fixture on Sunday afternoon. Full dates and times are:-
- Friday, July 15th, 2022 @ 7.05 pm ET
- Saturday, July 16th, 2022 @ 7.15 pm ET
- Sunday, July 17th, 2022 @ 1.35 pm ET
The big question is, can the Red Sox take the form they showed from the final two matches at Fenway Park into this weekend?
At the very least, they should go into the trilogy with a fair amount of self-belief. And the two wins came without star batter Rafael Devers. Any hope the Red Sox had of coming back would surely have disappeared when Devers was ruled out of the final two matches with pain in his lower back.
Performances like those two wins will come as no shock to Red Sox fans. Inconsistency like that has their fans in despair. So itâs no consolation when Alex Cora makes the claim that the Red Sox are a good team in a tough league but have the beating of anybody.
Even though that's probably true, it doesnât make being a Red Sox fan any easier. And it certainly doesn't improve their chances of beating the Yankees in New York this weekend.
Yankees v Red Sox; Our Pick
Prices arenât available yet, and when they are I donât see the odds on the Yankees being too attractive. The Yankees are at home and are the dominant side in the division.
In situations like this, the best MLB betting sites don't usually give too much away.
With or without the betting odds, I see the Yankees taking the series either 2-1 or 3-0.
In the betting on the individual matches, the Yankees beat the handicap in one of their two wins at Fenway Park. So, with home advantage, I feel the Yankees should beat the handicap in the individual matches at least twice. Meaning, if you wager on all three, you should be nicely in profit.
