2021 MLB Odds and Predictions for Cy Young and MVP Awards

It's a wonderful time of year to be an MLB fan. The 2021 All-Star Game is wrapped, and oh what fun it was. The lion's share of the schedule is in the books, and the World Series picture has taken shape as a result. And on top of all that, the awards races are heating up.

So, without further ado, let's get to our 2021 MLB odds and predictions for the Cy Young and MVP awards.

Since the National League MVP race is the most interesting, we'll begin there. Here are the 2021 NL MVP odds, courtesy of BetOnline:

MVP PickBetOnline
Fernando Tatis Jr.+100
Jacob deGrom+110
Max Muncy+2500
Nicholas Castellanos+2800
Brandon Crawford+3300
Trea Turner+3300
Bryce Harper+5000
Jesse Winker+5000
Kris Bryant+5000
Kyle Schwarber+5000
Nolan Arenado+5000

Though the individual awards pecking order is pretty set this time of year, you'll want to make sure you double-check these MLB MVP odds at BetOnline and other top online sportsbooks. The lines will continue to move as the season goes on.

2021 MLB Awards Predictions

Please note that all our MLB awards picks are based on what we've seen this season so far, and what we expect to happen the rest of the year. It isn't just a "If the season ended today..." proposition.

Furthermore, we're also operating under the assumption all our MLB awards selections remain healthy and don't miss substantial time from here on out.

NL MVP Prediction

Lots of players are listed as NL MVP possibilities, but this is really only a two-man race between Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jacob deGrom (+110).

Initially, we thought the time Tatis missed at the beginning of the season might cost him in this competition. But while deGrom has been dominant on the mound for the New York Mets, he's only pitching once or twice a week. Tatis is an everyday player, and no other position player comes close to matching his output.

Jacob deGrom odds

This is not an exaggeration. Despite missing some time, the 22-year-old leads the National League in home runs, stolen bases and slugging percentage—all while playing stellar defense at shortstop. You'd do well to bet on him before he starts returning less than even money.

OSB Prediction: Fernando Tatis Jr. (+100)

AL MVP Prediction

Here are the latest odds on who will win MVP in the American League:

MVP PickBetOnline
Shohei Ohtani-350
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.+225
Xander Bogaerts+4000
Aaron Judge+5000
Carlos Correa+5000
Marcus Semien+5000
Matt Olson+5000
Rafael Devers+5000

The AL MVP race is far less interesting than the jockeying going on between Tatis and deGrom in the NL—mostly because it isn't a race at all.

Shohei Ohtani has this baby wrapped up. He has quickly become not only the face of baseball but a parallel to a modern-day Babe Ruth.

Some will blush at that comp. They shouldn't. If anything, Ohtani is more versatile than The Great Bambino. They could both pitch and then slug it at the plate, but Ohtani is out here hitting 90-plus to 100 mile-per-hour pitches. Ruth never had to deal with that.

Anyway, while the Los Angeles Angels hurt Ohtani with their barely-.500 record, there isn't a great alternative from a much better team. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+225) has easily been the second-most dominant player in the AL, but his Toronto Blue Jays are hovering outside the playoff picture themselves.

More than anything, Vlad can't compete with someone jacking home runs and raking in wins from the mound. No one can.

OSB Prediction: Shohei Ohtani (-350)

NL Cy Young Prediction

Check out the latest odds for who will win the NL's Cy Young award:

Cy Young PickBetOnline
Jacob Degrom-1000
Brandon Woodruff+1400
Kevin Gausman+1400
Zack Wheeler+1400
Corbin Burnes+2200
Yu Darvish+2200
Max Scherzer+3300
Trevor Bauer+3300
Walker Buehler+3300
Freddy Peralta+4000
Clayton Kershaw+5000
Jack Flaherty+5000
Joe Musgrove+5000
Trevor Rogers+5000
Josh Hader+5000

Good luck choosing anyone other than deGrom here. His -1000 has to be some kind of record with more than 40 percent of the season left to play.

Picking against him is a fool's errand. He leads all pitchers in ERA, strikeouts and hits allowed per nine innings while sporting a dominant record relative to the Met's ultra-questionable offense.

There is no alternative to him.

OSB Prediction: Jacob deGrom (-1000)

AL Cy Young Prediction

Below you can see the latest odds for who will win the AL's Cy Young award:

Cy Young PickBetOnline
Gerrit Cole-110
Carlos Rodon+200
Lance Lynn+450
Shane Bieber+2200
Chris Bassitt+2800
Kyle Gibson+2800
Nathan Eovaldi+2800
Aaron Civale+5000
John Means+5000
Lucas Giolito+5000
Sean Manaea+5000

Gerritt Cole (-110) has put together a spectacular season for a lackluster New York Yankees squad. He leads all pictures in WHIP, owns an ERA south of 2.75 and has a decidedly winning record.

Carlos Rodon odds

Still, we're not quite ready to rule out Carlos Rodon (+200) of the Chicago White Sox.

His record isn't as impressive, but he's posting a better ERA and allowing both fewer hits and home runs per nine innings. Given how all-over-the-place New York has been this season, we're not too confident in taking Cole when he's laying less than even money.

OSB Prediction: Carlos Rodon (+200)
