Preview
Scottie Scheffler (+650)
There is a reason Scheffler is the frontrunner to win this weekend. He hasn't finished outside of the top 25 in any Major since 2020. As previously mentioned, the American also showed well at Augusta with a 10th-place finish. As for this current season, Scheffler won the Phoenix Open and THE PLAYERS Championship. But, it's not like he wasn't in contention in other tournaments, too. Scheffler has secured 12 top-10 finishes in 2022-23. He is consistent as can be. Scheffler was a runner-up in this event last year as well in Brookline. The 26-year-old is undoubtedly worth a look in the US Open picks.
Jon Rahm (+1000)
Rahm starred at The Masters to become the first Spaniard to win The Masters since Sergio Garcia. However, his performances since then haven't exactly been great. He was 50th in the PGA Championship and has landed outside of the top 10 in five of his last six Majors. That being said, Rahm does have four wins this season including Augusta, also taking first place at Genesis, The American Express, and the Sentry Tournament of Champions. He was 12th in the 2022 edition of the US Open and won the tournament in 2021 at Torrey Pines in San Diego.
Brooks Koepka (+1300)
Koepka should probably be the favorite considering his recent play After dealing with a couple of different injuries in 2022, the American quickly put himself back on the scene with a second-place finish at Augusta and a first-place finish at Oak Hill. He is truly one of the best Major golfers in the world right now. The US Open also appears to be an event he thrives in, finishing within the top five in five of his eight appearances. That of course includes the back-to-back victories in 17' and 18'. Expect Koepka to turn up and produce his very best this weekend in LA. Watch him in the US Open picks.
Rory McIlroy (+1500)
It's well known that McIlroy is a force on the PGA Tour. While he's surely not happy about merging with LIV Golf, there is no doubt the Irishman will be focused on finding a result at the US Open. He's got four Majors wins to his name throughout the years, capturing two titles at the PGA Championship, one at this event way back in 2011, and another in 2014 at The Open Championship. McIlroy has been within the top 10 in three straight events, including seventh place at the RBC Canadian Open last weekend.
Viktor Hovland (+1800)
Hovland, who is currently ranked fifth in the world, feels so close to his first Major title. The Norwegian was second at the PGA Championship last month behind Koepka, seventh at The Masters, and tied for fourth at the 2022 Open Championship. Hovland has one win in 2022-23, but it was an unofficial event. Nevertheless, he's clearly trending upward in the tournaments that matter the most.
US Open Picks
There is a variety of worthy picks here. First, you have to take Koepka for a top-five finish. He's just too good at the US Open to ignore. Next, we'll go McIlroy to continue his impressive form and finish within the top 10. Also, take Scheffler for top five as well. I'm not loving Rahm's consistency lately so we'll skip him.
