At the start of the year, BetUS had Rahm at +800 in their US Masters Betting Odds. Due to his recent form not being as good as it was last season, Rahm is now +1100, with in-form Justin Thomas close behind on +1200.
Elsewhere in the betting, new world number 1, Scottie Scheffler, is into +1600. Also at +1600 is Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy and two-time major winner, USA’s Collin Morikawa.

About the 2022 US Masters
2022 is the 86th edition of the competition. The first players will be teeing off at 8 am ET on Thursday, with the individual times announced on Tuesday. As things stand, five times winner Tiger Woods is at the course, but he is going to wait to see if he is ready to play before he commits to playing, in what would be a sensational comeback after his horrific car crash in 2021.
- What; 2022 US Masters
- Where; Augusta National Golf Club, Augusta, Georgia, USA
- When; Thursday, April 7th, 2022 - Sunday, April 10th, 2022
- Start Time; 8 am ET
The prize fund at this year’s competition is yet to be confirmed but is rumored to be $11,500,000, the same as in 2021. The 72 par course has been slightly lengthened from last year’s 7475 yards to 7510 yards.
The defending champion is Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama. He finished on -10 to claim his first Green Jacket last year, holding off a late challenge from runner-up Will Zalatoris to become the first Japanese professional to win a golfing major. Matsuyama is +3500 to defend his title.

Can Rahm justify US Masters Favouritism?
The latest favorite in the Golf betting online odds is Jon Rahm. Up until recently, Rahm was the world's number one. He was replaced at the top of the rankings by the in-from Scottie Scheffler a couple of weeks back. Rahm hasn’t been up to his usual high standards of late, hence why his odds have slightly drifted. That along with the form of Justin Thomas.
Although Rahm’s odds have drifted, while Thomas’ has shortened, he is still just about clinging to favorite at the moment. Whether that will have changed by Thursday morning is another question. I expect a lot of cash to come in for Thomas, and by the time the players make it to the first tee, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rahm joined by Thomas and maybe even Scottie Scheffler as joint favorites.
US Masters 2022; Rahm’s Main Rivals
Justin Thomas @ +1200; Thomas is surprisingly just a one-time major winner to date - the 2017 US PGA. Two years ago he achieved his highest finish at the Masters, managing fourth place in 2020. Last year he finished T21. Overall, Thomas has a steady if not exceptional record at Augusta. He’s never missed the cut here and since 2016 he has finished T39, T22, T17, T12, 4th, and T21.
This season he looks good though, and this could well be the year he finally wins that elusive second major title. At odds of +1200, I think Justin Thomas is a good pick to win the US Masters this week.
Scottie Scheffler @ +1600; Elsewhere, and Scottie Scheffler is having an exceptional 2022. In the past month, he has won the WGC Championship (Match Play) and the Arnold Palmer invitational. Prior to that, he won the Phoenix Open in February.
This remarkable form has seen the 25-year-old become world number 1 for the first time in his career. He’s only played in the Master twice before, in 2020 he finished T19, and in 2021 he finished T18. He managed top 10 finishes in the other three majors last year. Scheffler is knocking at the door, and in this sort of form, he can’t be ignored at +1600. I expect another top 10 finish from the in-form American at the very least.
US Masters 2022; Value Pick
One man whose name quite often appears on the leaderboard is Shane Lowry. The Irishman may not have the status of being a household name in the world of golf, but what he does have to his name, is a major victory (he was the British Open Championship winner in 2019).
His best finish at the Masters is T21, and that was last year. He does have top 5 finishes at the US PGA (T4 in 2021) and US Open (T2 in 2016), though, and he is also on a streak of having made the cut at the last ten major championships. At +5500 I think Shane Lowry is an excellent value outside betting pick to win the 2022 US Masters.
