The second golfing major of 2022 gets underway on Thursday, so it's time we brought you some free US PGA Championship betting picks.
Scottie Scheffler won the Masters in April, his maiden major victory in golf. Scheffler is also now the world number one, but despite being the man of the moment, it's not often anyone wins back-to-back golf majors.
So with that in mind, we'll have a look elsewhere for some winner picks.
2022 US PGA Championship Winner Betting
As expected, Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite.
Depending on where you look, the majority of the golf betting online sites have Scheffler at +1000, or +1100.
Jon Rahm is the second favorite at around +1100, to +1200. I have seen the odd site where the two men are joint favorites. Let's have a look at the current PGA Championship odds:

Tommy Fleetwood | +7000 | +10000 |
Will Zalatoris | +3300 | +3300 |
Tiger Woods | +5000 | +5000 |
After those two comes the usual suspects in any order, depending on where you look. Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas. All around the +1400 to +1600 mark.
There is a new name infiltrating the usual suspects though, and that is Australia's Cameron Smith, the Players Championship winner in March this year.
The 28-year-old is around the +2000 mark, alongside Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth.
2022 US PGA Championship; The Details
This year's event is being held at the Southern Hills Country Club in Oklahoma.
It's being played on the Championship Course, originally designed by Perry Maxwell during the Great Depression in the 1930s.
It has since been restored by Gil Hanse, with the updates completed in 2019.
The Par 71 course is 7,481 yards, and this is the 104th edition of the tournament.
- When; Thursday, May 19th - Sunday, May 22nd
- Where; Southern Hills Country Club, Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Course; Championship Course
- Par; 71
- Length; 7481 Yards
- First Tee; 8 am ET
- 2021 Winner; Phil Mickelson
Last year's winner was Phil Mickelson. It was the left-hander's sixth major title.
The victory at Kiawah Island saw Mickelson become the oldest ever male winner of a golfing major at the grand old age of 50 years and 11 months.
Betting On Golf
The most popular betting market at the 2022 US PGA will no doubt be the outright winner market.
Other popular markets are top 5 finish, top 10 finish, whether a hole in one will be recorded, and to make the cut.
You can also bet on who the leader will be at the end of each day. And there will also be head-to-head markets, and betting markets on who will shoot the lowest score of each pairing (threesome on the first two days).
A good formula to use for golf betting is to hedge your bets on the outright winner market.
Given the open nature of golf competitions, the odds are longer on an individual winning. Meaning we can pick more than one and give ourselves a better chance of cashing in.
This same formula can be used when it comes to betting on the US Open Golf Championship later in the year.
US PGA Championship Picks
Right, time for some picks, and I know I've already said we're not backing him to win, but I'm starting with Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler for Top 5 Finish
In-form golfers are often there or thereabouts at the end of competitions, so working on that theory, Scheffler should be in the mix.
Scheffler has won the US Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the Phoenix Open, already this year. It would be stupid to discount him.
Is Rory McIlroy ready for another Major Win?
The name Rory McIlroy is always in the mix at any major championship these days. But would you believe the last of his four major wins was back in 2014?
In recent weeks the world number 7 has come into a bit of form though. He had his best Masters finish last month, finishing second to Scheffler, and has had five top 15 finishes this season.
I wouldn't be wagering too much on him due to what I mentioned about his last major coming eight years ago.
But I am happy to pick Rory McIlroy as one of my bets.

Corey Connors at +5500 Can't be Ignored
I know Corey Connors isn't a major winner and is also regarded as a bit of an outsider. But he is in too good a form to be this price.
Get on quick at BetOnline before it disappears.
And Finally - it's Will Zalatoris
Will Zalatoris finished T8 at last year's PGA. He also finished second at the 2021 US Masters, in what was his debut.
He has no PGA tour wins to his name yet, but Zalatoris is an up-and-coming star, and it's only a matter of time before he wins something.
You don't finish second in the Masters on your debut unless you have something about you. At +3300, I believe Will Zalatoris is worth a wager.
