Best Bets To Win 2023 Farmers Insurance Open
For the most part, there were no major surprises after two rounds. The only notable name to miss the cut was Will Zalatoris. He was cut for the first time since July after going 1 over. Besides him? Most of the top players remain in the mix, which makes picking winners for the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open difficult. But fear not, we have a few worthy selections below:
Sam Ryder
We’re actually a bit surprised Ryder is only +330 at the moment. After two rounds, Ryder leads the field. In round one, he shot 8-under 64 on the North. He followed that with a 4-under 68 on the South Course. Taken together, he is currently three shots ahead of the next-best golfer, Steele.
Simply put, Ryder is playing the golf of his life — no, seriously. He owns 147 starts on the PGA Tour. Never once before did he hold the lead after 36 holes until today. So while we understand why bookmakers are hesitant with his odds, we think it’s a steal. Given how well Ryder is playing — in gusty conditions no less — he’s worth a crack at +330 here.
Jon Rahm
All eyes were on Rahm even before this event began. The world’s No. 3-ranked player came into the event on a two-tourney winning streak. Bettors flocked to bookmakers to wager on a three-peat, which is rather uncommon in this sport.
After one round, those bettors were probably kicking themselves. The Spaniard had an awful outing, going 1-over on a Torrey Pines golf course he had plenty of past success at (including his 2021 US Open victory). In round 2, he was teetering on the brink of elimination but used a huge eagle on his back nine to avoid the faceplant. Rahm posted a 5-under 67 on day 2 and is currently tied at 14th.
Regardless, Rahm is getting our money here. The hot streak remains mostly intact. Never mind just the two straight wins. Rahm also has four victories in his last six international starts. We’re riding the hot hand here and taking Rahm with two days to go.
Justin Thomas
We’re going to be totally honest here: Thomas is an absolute flyer pick. It’s funny to say that out loud because, well, it’s Thomas, one of the world’s best (currently No. 9 in the rankings). But it’s a flyer because Thomas finds himself 10 shots behind the leader right now. But screw it, at +5000 odds, why not? Crazier things have happened in this sport and Thomas sure has the talent to mount a comeback. At the very least, Thomas to finish top-5 is worth a deep look.
How To Watch 2023 Farmers Insurance Open?
This is the rare tournament that’s Wednesday through Saturday and not the usual Thursday to Sunday. That’s because the PGA wanted to avoid Sunday since it’s NFL Conference Championship weekend. With that said, you have a slew of options for watching the 2023 Framers Insurance Open.
For those that want to catch live on TV, coverage is split between The Golf Channel and CBS. The first few hours are on The Golf Channel before things switch to CBS. This goes for both rounds 3 and 4.
For those that’ve “cut the cord” then streaming options are also available. Multiple options, in fact. Coverage can also be followed on ESPN+, Peacock, and Paramount+. NBC owns Peacock and Golf Channel so their simulcasts overlap, while CBS owns Paramount+.
