Please remember to keep checking these PGA Tour online betting odds until you actually submit your wager. And also make sure to refresh them throughout the tournament. Our Farmers Insurance Open betting odds are accurate entering Thursday, January 25. And the best online golf betting sites will constantly update their lines as the tournament continues to unfold.

Patrick Cantlay (+500) enters the start of Round 2 as the odds-on favorite to win it all. And his betting line is only moving closer to even money. Cantlay opened as a 10-to-1 non-favorite. His odds have since moved. That’s fitting, because it’s the continuation of a larger trend. Cantaly has seen his odds to win the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup steadily climb at many of the best online sportsbooks in the United States over the past couple of months.

But is he the smartest-money wager at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open? Who else should be up for consideration? And who are we taking to win the whole thing? Why, we’re so very glad you asked.

Why Patrick Cantlay is the Favorite to Win the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open

Though Cantlay will not begin Round 2 at the top of the Farmers Insurance Open leaderboard, he’s pretty darn close to it. He is tied for second place with Riyo Hisatune (+2200) and only one stroke behind the current leader, Kevin Yu (+1800).

Consistency alone should ensure that Cantlay remains within striking distance of first place until the very end. He ranks 32nd in the world in strokes gained from the tee to the green and is 20th overall in strokes gained off the tee.

Granted, his putting while on the green can sometimes be hit-or-miss. But his nearly 42 percent conversion rate on birdies is a top-20 mark and bodes well for him on Torrey Pines’ South Course.

Collin Morikawa is Picking Up Steam Among Analysts and Betting Models

Collin Morikawa (+1000) entered the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open getting plenty of love from analysts and various betting models. That faith is holding up through one round.

Morikawa will begin Round 2 five strokes under par, which is only three strokes off the lead. On Wednesday, the 26-year-old phenom showcased his ability to approach the green in style. And that has become his calling card overall. Morikawa ranks fourth in strokes gained on his approach to the green. He is also fifth in strokes gained from the tee to the green.

Is Max Homa Still a Viable Threat to Defend his Title?

Round 1 was not the best golf we’ve seen from Max Homa (+1600), the reigning champion of the Farmers Insurance Open. He finished two strokes under par, which is six shots off the lead. That’s a tough gap to make up even this early in the game.

Still, the 33-year-old plays a style that is conducive to bridging larger deficits. Few players on the PGA Tour are more powerful or accurate off the tee. His long drives should ensure he has plenty of high-percentage opportunities to approach the green. And if he can play more holes moving forward like he did on Hole No. 10 in Round 1, he’s bound to have a day where he’s six or more strokes under par.

Who’s the Best Long Shot Bet at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open?

Many will consider giving looks to Shane Lowry (+3000), Nick Hardy (+3500), Thomas Detri (+4500) and Aaron Rai (+5000). All of them are just a couple of strokes off the current leader, Kevin Yu.

And yet, we find ourselves drawn to Alejandro Tosti (+8000). Despite finishing six strokes under par—and shots off first place—he is still paying out 8-to-1 to win the Farmers Insurance Open. These odds are treating his Round 1 like a flash in the pan. And we get it. Tosti has zero career PGA Tour victories and currently ranks 129th in the FedEx Cup standings.

With that said, he has shown flickers of brilliance. Only six PGA Tour members sport a faster club speed at the moment. On top of that, he is among the most accurate players on approaches to the green from between 200 and 275 yards out.

Sustainability is Tosti’s greatest challenge. He ranks among the best Round 1 golfers on the tour, but he routinely craters in Round 2. However, when he makes the cut, he has performed admirably in Rounds 3 and 4. His putting picks up after making the cut, as well. Don’t sleep on him to win this year’s Farmers Insurance Open—especially if he finishes Round 2 under par.

Who Will Win It All at Torrey Pines in 2024?

So many good options currently populate the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open leaderboard. Kevin Yu’s best-of-day performance in Round 1 is going to stick with us for a while. He played picture-perfect golf. Not only did he finish eight strokes under par, but he didn’t turn in a single bogey.

Cantlay is worth your attention, too. He is the best all-around golfer in this field. Though he can fall into bogey-heavy stretches, he had just one over-par hole in Round 1.

Xander Schauffele (+800) offers plenty of intrigue, even after an underwhelming opening day. The same goes for Hideki Matsuyama (+2000) and Tony Finau (+2000).

In the end, we are most drawn to Collin Morikawa (+1000). He appears to be on the precipice of a career year. Morikawa already has one top-10 finish in 2024, and his approaches to the green are tailor made for both the North and South courses at Torrey Pines.

OSB Prediction: Collin Morikawa wins the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open
