- What: 2025 Valero Texas Open
- When: April 3rd-6th
- Where: TPC San Antonio
The Valero Texas Open is the last stop on the PGA Tour prior to the first major of the season, The Masters. That being the case, there's always a deep field in the hunt, which tends to create solid PGA Tour odds for golf bettors.
Swedish star Ludvig Aberg is set as the +1200 favorite in the opening line for this tournament.
The Valero Texas Open is a 72-hole event held at TPC San Antonio. Contested since 1922, this tournament is the third-oldest continuous non-major event on the PGA Tour schedule. Only the BMW Championship/Western Open (1899) and Canadian Open (1904) are older.

Texas Open Best Bets
When handicapping the Valero Texas Open, returning players and non-winners on the PGA Tour tend to be sharp bets. Each of the past 10 winners of this tournament not only had played in this event previously, they'd all made the cut here at least once. And four of the past seven Texas Open champions were first-time winners on the PGA Tour.
Let's have a look at the top contenders in the Valero Texas Open golf picks for this year's tournament.
Ludvig Aberg (+1200)
The Swede already has a win this season in The Genesis Invitational. He hasn't played as well lately, missing the cut at The Players Championship.
However, as last year's runner-up, Aberg figures to be one of the top contenders next week at Augusta. He'll be seeking to go into The Masters on a high note.
Tommy Fleetwood (+1400)
Englishman Fleetwood has never won on the PGA Tour. He's been a runner-up five times, though.
Based upon the recent history of non-winners winning the Valero Texas Open, that fact alone makes him intriguing. Fleetwood has cracked the top-20 in each of his past four tournaments.
Corey Conners (+1600)
The Canadian player absolutely thrives on the TPC San Antonio layout. He won here as a qualifier in 2019 and again in 2023.
A two-time winner of the @valerotxopen Corey Conners is 50 under par over the last five starts in the tournament.

He's also hot right now. Conners has finished in the top eight in each of his past three events.
Ashkay Bhatia (+2200)
The defending champ beat Denny McCarthy in a playoff to win last year's Valero Open. Bhatia shot in the 60s in three of his four rounds last year.

He was tied for third at The Players Championship. Bhatia also has posted top-10 performances at the Mexico Championship and Genesis Invitational.
Valero Open Longshots To Consider
Charley Hoffman (+8000) has loved many of his past experiences here. He won the Texas Open in 2016. Hoffman finished second in this tourney in 2011, 2019 and 2021.
Jordan Spieth (+2200) was the 2021 winner of the Valero Open. He wound up second in 2015. Runner-up in 2001 and 2022, Matt Kuchar (+9000) has finished tied for 12th or better in four of the last five Texas Opens.
Tom Hoge (+8000) doesn't play this tournament often, but always seems to play it well. He was T-12 in his last appearance in 2021. Hoge has two other top-10 finishes since 2016.
Texas Open Prop Bets
At BetUS, Aberg is the +2200 favorite to be the first-round leader. Patrick Cantlay hasn't won on the PGA Tour since 2022. However, he's played well lately and might be a good play at +450 to finish among the top five.
Several players need a win here to qualify for a spot in The Masters. One of them is tour veteran Rickie Fowler. While it might not be wise to bet Fowler to win, at +550 to finish in the top 10 he's delivering value. Or if you want to play it a little bit safer, Fowler is +240 to wind up among the top-20 finishers.
The Valero Texas Open Pick
Even when he isn't winning here, Conners is still tearing up TPC San Antonio. Since 2017, the Canadian player rates first among PGA Tour players in strokes gained over this layout.
He’s gained more than +6.0 strokes ball-striking on this course in four of the past five tournaments. Go with Conners as the best bet in the Valero Texas Open picks.
