After a brief trip to Canada for Round 9, the Formula 1 roadshow is back in Europe for the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen is the betting favorite and is looking for his fifth win in succession. Here we tell you what we think will happen and also name our latest Formula 1 betting picks.

Where; Red Bull Ring, Spielberg, Austria
When; Sunday, July 2nd, 2023
Time; 9 am ET

Race Length; 306.452 km
You now have to go back to April to find the last time a Formula 1 race wasnāt won by Max Verstappen. That was the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, on the street circuit of Baku, won by Sergio Perez. Remember him?
Since that win from the Mexican, the next four races have been dominated by Max Verstappen. He has now won four successive races, and they were all comfortable victories.

The latest win came in Canada. And the victory has seen Verstappen now open up a 69-point lead at the top of the driversā championship. The two-time world champ has 195 points, with his teammate, Sergio Perez on 126.
Behind Perez, things are hotting up. The Mexican has struggled in recent weeks. And as a result, Fernando Alonso (117) and Lewis Hamilton (102) are closing in on him - making the betting to win the world championship without Verstappen a very interesting market.
Betting without Verstappen
Having been -1000 to win the driversā championship without Max Verstappen just a few weeks ago, Sergio Perez is now just -165.
The performances of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton in recent races, along with upgrades to their respective cars, have seen the odds in this market considerably close up. Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton are now both +300, with Charles Leclerc out at +20000.
As things stand, it is possible to hedge your bets on Alonso and Hamilton. But with both having been at odds of +700 in recent weeks, a wait-and-see approach could prove to be better, as it would be interesting to see if either driverās odds lengthen should they finish outside of the podium places this weekend.
Betting to win the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen is the favorite again, Iāve lost count of how often Iāve had to write that sentence over the last 12 to 18 months. This week, Verstappen is -300 to win again with the best Formula 1 online betting sites. Which is the same price he was to win in Canada.
Behind Verstappen, Sergio Perez is the second favorite, but he is now out at +1000. This puts him just ahead of Fernando Alonso (+1100) and Lewis Hamilton (+1200) and is also reflective of how close the experienced duo now are to the Red Bull number two driver.
2022 Austrian Grand Prix winner Charles Leclerc is next at +1400. He was +3300 to win in Canada two weeks ago. The shorter price on Ferrari could be because they are the most successful constructor in this race with seven victories.
But Leclercās victory 12 months ago was the constructorās first here since the race returned to the F1 roster in 2014.

Our Picks
Max Verstappen has won this race on three occasions (2018, 2019, and 2021). In 2022, Verstappen was in Pole Position, but Charles Leclerc went on to win the race. Verstappen still finished second and claimed the fastest lap. Lewis Hamilton finished in third.
Itās hard to see Verstappen not winning the race, but at odds of -300, he may be worth giving a miss. Don't forget, something will go wrong one week!
For our alternative F1 betting pick, weāre again looking at alternative markets. Charles Leclerc is +200 to finish in the top three, but even though he won this race last year, Ferrari has simply been too poor this season to take a risk on.
Fernando Alonso is -120 for a top-three finish, the same price as Sergio Perez. Lewis Hamilton is +100. Hamiltonās odds have drifted slightly. He was odds-on at the start of the week. But the news that Mercedes may be waiting for Silverstone to make more upgrades may have put punters off for now.
We feel the same, so weāre going for Fernando Alonso to finish on the podium. We think he is a far better bet than Sergio Perez, who is the same price. And even though Lewis Hamilton has been improving with every race, Alonso looks the safer bet, and weāre making a podium finish for the Spaniard, our second pick for the 2023 Austrian Grand Prix.
