The League of Legends 2024 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) playoffs are officially underway. And that means it’s time to have a look at some of the upcoming key matchups.
Since the League of Legends playoffs began on May 7, we’ve already seen Gen.G take down Fnatic. That helps set the stage for what’s to follow. Here’s a look at the latest odds on League of Legends MSI matchups:
Please remember to keep checking these online esports betting odds right up until you place your wager. Our League of Legends betting odds are accurate entering Thursday, May 9. That gives the top online sportsbooks in the United States enough time to adjust their lines based on the latest action—especially when it comes to the head-to-heads that won’t begin until this weekend.
And make no mistake, we’ve already seen some movement. Odds on Fnatic shifted a great deal after their loss to Gen.G. They now enter as heavy underdogs against Team Liquid on May 10. Who will win that showdown? And how about the others currently on the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational playoffs schedule? Let’s get to some LoL picks!
Will Bilibili Gaming Cruise to League of Legends Playoff Victory Over PSG Talon?
This question might understate the imbalance in this matchup. Bilibili Gaming (-10000) is a super-heavy favorite, just like they’ve been all season. Fresh off their first-ever League of Legends Pro League Regional Title, this group is dominating the MSI field. They’ve suffered only one loss during the spring slate, all the way back in group play.
With that said, we do feel like PSG Talon (+1350) is being slightly undervalued here. Make no mistake, we don’t expect them to win. Bilibili Gaming is too much of a well-oiled machine. But PSG Talon has plenty of experience in international play and has cobbled together some gritty victories during the LoL Mid-Season Invitational.
To what end that matters here is debatable. Frankly, it probably doesn’t count for a whole lot. Bilibili Gaming has now won 13 straight matches, and its MVP, knight, is a 23-year-old phenom delivering picture-perfect gameplay at the moment.
OSB Prediction: Bilibili Gaming (-10000)
Why is T1 So Heavily Favored Against G2 Esports?
The answer to this question is to some degree a given. T1 (-900) has won 81 percent of their matches over the past 12 months compared to a rock-solid 67 percent from G2 Esports (+500).
Still, these League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational betting odds go beyond the record. In this matchup specifically, T1’s ability to limit their mistakes reign supreme. At the moment, they are averaging barely nine deaths per game—a full 2.7 deaths fewer than G2 Esports.
This factor alone is going to make a massive difference. And it wouldn’t shock us if T1 puts this clash to bed within the first 15 minutes or so of action.
OSB Prediction: T1 (-900)
Can Fnatic Get Back on Track vs. Team Liquid?
Fnatic (-400) is coming off a monumental loss to Gen.G but enters as the fairly heavy favorite against Team Liquid. To be quite honest, this registers as somewhat surprising. Fnatic has not looked especially ready to compete at the highest level throughout the tournament. Feasting on inferior opponents has been their bread and butter, and they’ve struggled to even get on the board against top-tier competition.
Granted, Team Liquid is somewhat in the same boat. They have struggled at points during the League of Legends MSI 2024. In fact, they barely even qualified for the playoffs.
And yet, Fnatic’s penchant for slow starts this year has us a little worried. They’re only drawing first blood 48 percent of the time, a number that pales in comparison to Team Liquid’s 58.3 percent mark.
Of course, this isn’t everything. But it’s evident of larger concerns. So while Team Liquid is working with basically a brand new roster, we find ourselves trusting them more than Fnatic.
OSB Prediction: Team Liquid (+275)
Does Top Esports Have a Chance to Pull Off League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Upset?
This is yet another League of Legends MSI playoffs matchup that has churned out some interesting betting lines. Gen.G. enters as the -270 favorite against Top Esports, which is paying out 2-to1. Color us shocked Gen.G isn’t favored by more.
Not only did Gen.G just handle Fnatics pretty handedly, but they’ve won 82 percent of their matches this season. They have a tendency to get out to slow starts, but their mid-game and late-game executive is on another level.
To Top Esports’ credit, they’re posting a winning percentage of nearly 75 themselves. But their late-game offense isn’t quite on the same level. Their performance has a tendency to peter out around the 15-minute mark.
Perhaps this will wind up being closer than we expect. But if you’re in the hunt for a League of Legends upset investment, we still prefer Team Liquid to beat Fnatic to Top Esports’ betting odds against Gen.G.
OSB Prediction: Gen.G (-270)
