Atlanta FaZe’s place at the top is not specific to the oddsmakers at BetOnline sportsbook. On the contrary, we have yet to see an esports betting site list anyone other than Atlanta FaZe as the odds-on favorites to win Call of Duty League 2024.
And yet, the standings and other Call of Duty League 2024 betting lines are close enough that it suggests Atlanta FaZe’s title stock isn’t unflappable. Is that accurate? Who are the biggest threats to win it all if it is? And why, exactly, has Atlanta FaZe emerged as a consensus? Oh, and what about the 2023 Call of Duty League champion New York Subliners? Should they be on your list of contenders to watch? Let’s get into it all.
How Atlanta FaZe Has Ascended to the Top of Call of Duty League 2024
After dropping a close battle to the Los Angeles Guerillas (+15000) back in the middle of March, Atlanta FaZe (+150) has responded by winning each of their next two matches. They have now won four of six dating back to the start of last month.
Still, there do appear to be some cracks in their performance. So many of their victories were coming in the 3-1 or 3-0 range. Atlanta FaZe’s past two wins have come 3-2, with lower kill-to-death ratios than they normally turn in during victories.
Whether this is cause for real concern remains to be seen. But Atlanta FaZe has won 80 percent of his matchups on the Karechi and Highrise maps—a pretty good long-term indicator in our book.
Is Toronto Ultra the Biggest Threat to Atlanta FaZe’s CoD Title Push?
Losing two of their past three matches is a tad concerning for Toronto Ultra (+225). They have struggled, specifically, on the Highrise and Invasion maps.
However, they have built a big enough lead in second place to weather this midseason slump. They have won almost 90 percent of their matches on the Karachi map, and the play of Scrappy has been phenomenal; he’s racked up nearly 1,500 total kills.
Are People Sleeping on the Reigning Call of Duty League Champions?
Laying top four odds to win Call of Duty League 2024 doesn’t constitute “sleeper” status. Then again, when you’re the reigning champion New York Subliners (+400), it kind of does.
Sticking last year’s title-toters behind Atlanta FaZe, Toronto Ultra and OpTic Texas (+250) feels a little aggressive. Atlanta FaZe has definitely earned the benefit of the doubt. But the Subliners have four players with kill-to-death ratios north of one, and they have by and large dominated their matchups on the Highrise and Invasion boards.
Something to monitor: Can New York perform better on the Karechi map? To date, they’ve won just 20 percent of their Call of Duty League competitions on that board.
Best Dark Horse to Win CoD League 2024
On the surface, the Miami Heretics (+10000) are having a Call of Duty League 2024 season to forget. They are miles below .500 and currently sit outside the Call of Duty League playoffs picture. The fact that Lucky is their only player with a kill-to-death ratio of one or better also doesn’t bode particularly well.
But the Heretics have proven gritty. Loads of their losses have come on the margins, and they don’t have a winning percentage below 40 on any of the major CoD boards.
Indeed, calling Miami a favorite goes waaaay too far. But when it comes to left-field options, they have our attention.
So, Who is the Actual Best Bet to Take Home the Call of Duty League Trophy?
Most of the Call of Duty League betting money is going to Atlanta FaZe (+150) or Toronto Ultra (+225). For our money, though, we continue to like the New York Subliners (+400) and their shot at pulling off a repeat.
Yes, their struggles on the Karechi map are troubling. But they have pushed some of the top Call of Duty League contenders to the brink. The Subliners almost scraped together a victory against the Atlanta FaZe, and they most recently edged out the Toronto Ultra themselves.
Don’t be surprised if the reigning champs look even better than they do now come playoff time.
