Joey "Jaws" Chestnut heads in as the heavy favorite on the Men's side, having won in six straight years. As for the Women, seven-time champion Miki Sudu is back in the mix as a frontrunner to win after skipping the 2021 competition because of the birth of her child.

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Odds
Joey Chestnut a Heavy Favorite
When you think about the Hot Dog Eating Contest, the first name that comes to mind is Chestnut. He's an icon of the sport, eating a record-breaking 76 dogs and buns last year. He's won the contest in 14 of the last 15 years, sitting at -3500 odds to take home the crown again. He did lose in 2015 to Matt Stonie after eating just 60 hot dogs, but in every competition since, Chestnut has downed more than 70. It's not only hot dogs for Chestnut, though. He owns world records after eating 182 chicken wings in 30 minutes, 53 taco bell beef tacos in 10 minutes, and 55 donuts in just eight minutes.
He's not just winning every year at Coney Island, Chestnut is blowing out his opponents. When Carmen Cincotti finished in second place in 2017, he finished 10 HDBs behind "Jaws". In the last two competitions, Chestnut has come out victorious by 33 and 26 HDBs, respectively. It's totally understandable why he's such a massive favorite at all sportsbooks. Chestnut is clearly in a league of his own when it comes to throwing back hot dogs. This is second nature for him and he'll be poised to take home another title. He's a lock in Hot Dog Eating Contest picks.
Can Geoffrey Esper Pull Off The Upset?
If there is one other contestant in this competition that has the resume to beat Chestnut on Monday, it's Geoffrey Esper. He's got the second-best odds at +900 and despite winning a boatload of different eating contests this year, not many people really know him. Esper won the Donut Hole Eating Championship, Pepperoni Roll competition, Egg Roll event, and Strawberry Shortcake Championship, all in 2022. He put down a record 293 mini donuts in just eight minutes. Insane.
Esper is up there with the best of them. He could certainly give Chestnut a run for his money on the Fourth of July.

Over/Unders picks
On the men's side, Chestnut's over/under is set at 74.5. As previously mentioned, he smashed 76 in 2021. He also hit the over the year before that, eating 75 HDBs. Why wouldn't he do so again? Take the over and believe in Chestnut putting back north of 75. He's a living legend who is the king of the Hot Dog Eating Contest. Based on history, he's essentially improved as time goes on.
As for the women, Miki Sidu's over/under is set at 47.5. She's the queen of this contest and will be poised to win another title after missing last year's competition. She broke a ladies record when Sidu ate 48.5 HDBs in 2020 and there is one clear reason to believe she'll hit the over here. Sidu just had a kid and could still be slightly overweight after pregnancy, but that is a huge benefit in this regard. Oh, Nick Wehry, who is competing against Chestnut, is her husband. Gross in a way, but also romantic they both enter Hot Dog Eating Contests. Plus, Sidu is truly a professional eater, downing 16 pints of ice cream in a mind-boggling six minutes and also setting a world record in kimchi eating.
