Grammy award voting wrapped up in early January 4, however, winners will not be announced until February 5 when the show takes place live in Los Angeles’ Crypto Arena. While we wait, we’ve gone ahead a made our Grammy predictions on the major categories, which are available to gamble on at major entertainment-based betting sites. Keep reading for four free picks!
Record of the Year Betting Pick
We start with the Record of the Year award, which is shaping up to be a three-artist race by the look of the betting odds. While there are 10 nominees, these artists are most favored to win right now across top bookmakers:
Record | ||
---|---|---|
Adele - Easy on Me | +100 | +100 |
Harry Styles - As It Was | +150 | +150 |
Beyonce - Break My Soul | +550 | +550 |
Steve Lacy - Bad Habit | +850 | +850 |
Lizzo - About Damn Time | +1000 | +1000 |
To us, this award really comes down to Adele and Beyonce (despite her long odds). Harry Styles has an outside chance, but he doesn’t have the pedigree and “story” of the other two. Unfortunately, those ancillary things matter just as much as how the actual album sounds.
For Adele, she’s on the cusp of history. Adele has won this award in two of the three previous nominations she’s had. A third victory would tie her with Paul Simon and Bruno Mars for the most wins in the category’s storied history. Beyoncé, meanwhile, is now on her eighth nomination in this category, that’s also a record she holds by herself. But the “story” here is Beyonce is winless in the award history.
Winless until now we predict. Our money is on Beyonce finally getting her hardware. The Recording Academy has been pressured over the years to be more diverse, and they’ve responded by welcoming new diversified members to the group — who ultimately vote on these awards. That could help end Beyoncé’s long-dreaded losing streak, which fairly or unfairly, has long been chalked up to the Academy’s lack of diversity. Remember this theme cause it will also influence our next pick as well.
Album of the Year Betting Pick
Once again, all eyes are on Adele and Beyonce in the Album of the Year betting odds. The two are tied atop the betting field, as seen below:
Artist - Album | ||
---|---|---|
Beyonce - Renaissance | +150 | +150 |
Adele - 30 | +150 | +150 |
Harry Styles - Harry's House | +250 | +250 |
Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers | +650 | +650 |
Bad Bunny - Un Verano Sin Ti | +1200 | +1200 |
Who remembers Adele’s acceptance speech for this award back in 2017? Adele swept Beyonce in four categories they went head-to-head in but used her acceptance speech for Album of the Year to say “I can’t possibly accept this award” before lauding Beyonce as a pioneer. You can debate how authentic the statement was or whether Adele “pandered” to social media mob mentality, but it happened, and that result looms large here.
Beyonce will finally win this award too. She’s on her fourth nomination for Album of the Year — which is most for a colored woman. The perception of her losing (again) surely weighed on Academy voters. Expect a massive night for Beyonce come February 5.
Song of the Year Betting Pick
Alright, this might be the only award Beyonce doesn’t rack up at the Grammys. There are several other candidates front-running for Song of the Year:
Record | ||
---|---|---|
Adele - Easy on Me | +150 | +150 |
Taylor Swift - All Too Well (10 min & Taylor's) | +250 | +250 |
Harry Styles - As It Was | +300 | +300 |
Beyonce - Break My Soul | +850 | +850 |
Steve Lacy - Bad Habit | +1000 | +1000 |
Harry Styles “As It Was” has a lot of momentum. While most of the songs in this category went to No. 1 in Billboard’s Hot 100, few had the staying power of Styles’ song. It stayed atop the charts for 15 weeks, setting a new record for the longest run at No. 1 by a U.K. artist. The song was a nod to life forever changing after the pandemic, which feels all the more timely. We’re riding Styles' momentum to the bank with a bet here.
Best New Artist Betting Pick
Enough with Adele, Beyonce, Styles, or any other of those established megastars. Our last pick of the night is for Best New Artist. As it stands, Latto is the runaway betting favorites to win Best New Artist:
What’s interesting here is none of the new artist nominees were nominated in the other major categories — the first time in six years that has happened. So that’s why you might not even recognize some, or all, of the listed betting favorites.
But here’s what you need to know: Latto is the breakout new artist of the year. The 23-year-old rapper from Atlanta burst onto the scene with the song “Big Energy” which charges big time in 2022. She’s someone to look out for in rap, an arena dominated by Atlanta artists already.
