Oscars Betting Predictions

The biggest night in Hollywood is here ā€” and you can bank money off it! Yes, weā€™re talking about betting on the 2024 Oscars award show. Weā€™ve picked out three bets weā€™re confident will pay out this coming weekend!

  • What: 2024 Academy Awards
  • When: Sunday, March 10, 2024.
  • Where: Los Angeles, California

Oppenheimer Total Awards Betting Pick

Every year, thereā€™s one darling movie thatā€™s the talk of the town during awards season. This year, thatā€™s Oppenheimer ā€” the biopic on Robert Oppenheimer, the creator of the atomic bomb. This bet centers around just how many Oscars awards Oppenheimer will rack up at the show. The betting options are as follows:

Click here for more The Oscars betting odds.

First of all, Oppenheimer has 13 different Oscars' nominations. Thatā€™s the most of all followed by Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon with 11 and 10, respectively.

Coming into this event, Oppenheimer has cleaned up at other award shows like the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs, and the SAG Awards. Thatā€™s almost always a good predictor of whatā€™s to come at the Oscars.

At the Globes, Oppenheimer won five times for best drama, best director for Christopher Nolan, best score, and best acting for Cillian Murphy (lead role) and Robert Downey Jr. (supporting role). They are commanding favorites to win each of those respective awards at the Oscars too. We mean, Nolan alone is -5000 for Best Director despite never winning an Oscar before.

The range of awards for Oppenheimer will undoubtedly fall somewhere between four and nine. Lower ranger if they underperform and high range if they overperform ā€” which lines up perfectly with the current betting odds.

Weā€™re personally putting our money on the high side. This movie has just about everything youā€™d want out of a major awards winner ā€” ensemble cast, period piece, commercial and cultural success, and recent awards history. Bet on a big night for Oppenheimer and to get 7-9 awards.

Best Actress Betting Pick

Due to Oppenheimer, most of the major award categories arenā€™t even worth putting money on. One of the few that does have betting value is the Best Actress race. It's a two-woman battle for the nod across the best betting sites for entertainment:

ActressBovadaBetUSMyBookie
Lily Gladstone (Flower Moon)-200-200-200
Emma Stone (Poor Things)-150-150-150
Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall)+1800+1800+1800
Carey Mulligan (Maestro)+3000+3000+3000
Annette Bening (Nyad)+3500+3500+3500

A month or so ago, most believed this was Stoneā€™s award to lose. She dazzled in Poor Things, another awards darling like Oppenheimer. Itā€™s a weirder movie that mixes fantasy and comedy, but it clicked, partly due to Stoneā€™s incredible acting range.

Not only that, but Stone is a staple of these shows. Even before Poor Things, sheā€™s starred in other pictures that Oscars voters ate up, including The Favourite and La La Land. She won Best Actress for the latter in 2017. Moreover, Stone was sweeping up at award shows. She won Best Actress at the BAFTA Awards, Critics Choice, and the Globes. However, the SAG Awards passed her up in favor of Gladstone, which explains the current Oscars odds.

Gladstone was long thought to be a contender in the Best Supporting Actress category but was put into this one instead. She hung with acting greats Leo DiCaprio and Robert Deniro in Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moo so itā€™s not long she doesnā€™t belong in this category.

Hereā€™s what Gladstone has that Stone doesnā€™t though: a diverse background. Letā€™s not pretend diversity isnā€™t a selling point in entertainment right now, whether right or wrong. Anyway, Gladstone is the first-ever Native American to be nominated for this award and we expect her to be the first to win too. Thatā€™s a story and headline that Oscars voters surely want to get out.

Oscars Memoriam Betting Pick

All right, weā€™ll be completely upfront and say this Oscars menorium bet is 100 percent a crapshoot. This is a wager on who the last person shown in the annual memorizing montage that honors those whoā€™ve died over the past year. Just take a look at some of the betting options:

PersonBovadaBetUSMyBookie
Matthew Perry+150+150+150
Tina Turner+225+225+225
William Friedkin+350+350+350
Sinead O'Connor+450+450+450
Carl Weathers+1200+1200+1200
Ryan O'Neal+1500+1500+1500
Lee Sun Kyun+1500+1500+1500

Thereā€™s no real rhyme or reason to the order of people shown, not at least one weā€™ve picked up on. So this bet, more or less, becomes like throwing darts. And with these odds, itā€™s not a bad idea to throw at least two darts or bets.

Weā€™ll throw some money at Friedkin, the famous director. Heā€™s one of the generational movie directors of his time ā€” winning the Academy Award for it in 1972 with the French Connection ā€” and certainly not a bad name to close out with. The same goes for Tina Turner. Sheā€™s more of an artist than an actress, but itā€™s Tina Turner for Peteā€™s sake! Both are worthy bets to close out the memory montage.
